Insecurity In Shape

Insecurity

In Shape

 our shape has great potential

Babies do grow

The question is, will they grow to be healthy or not

Whether you are short like me or tall like my kids & grandkids

Your height does not matter, it is your health

Health is something you exercise daily to obtain

You don’t have to belong to the pastor’s family

You can be single and alone and exercise godliness

Develop your body, soul and spirit

Develop your personality, talents, and gifts

Develop your experiences

You are so unique and precious

It is all a part of the shape God has given you

With the promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Are you in Shape?

In Shape

It is hard for most of us to see an adult

and picture in your mind that person as a baby.

The other day I was at my daughter Julie’s work.

After finding out I was Julie’s dad...

Two of her co-workers with great curiosity asked me

“Where did Julie get her height?”

Sandy and I are not tall,

 yet our children and grandchildren.

for the most part, are tall.

My second oldest granddaughter

 graduated in 2021.

I told her she had to share her graduation

celebrations with me, as in 2021

I celebrated 50 years since I graduated.

Lexi is also taller than I am.

Lexi as a little girl was very outgoing,

 but as she grew up,

she has not enjoyed the spotlight.

She has not only become a very beautiful

young lady, but an excellent student and

was awarded Salutatorian of her class.

Although she does not like public speaking,

she gave a flawless speech with great content

 at her high school graduation.

 Before my very eyes,

 I watched my children and

grandchildren grow up.

From babies in my arms

 to too big to carry.

To see their God-given shape

develop has been an amazing wonder.

Lexi’s graduation has made me

think of my graduation, 50 years ago.

Unlike Lexi, I was not sure my grade

would be good enough to get a diploma.

I did not have many of the

things that helped shape Lexi.

So I began to think about what I missed in life.

What I wished I would have had to

help develop my God-given shape.

I thought, what if my parents weren’t divorced

and were home instead of working to make

sure we had the basics of food and shelter.

What if I could have been involved in sports

to get the discipline and learn team spirit.

What if I had been in the military and got the

training to handle challenging situations in life.

As I was thinking of the things that would

have helped to shape me…

I felt God tapping me on the shoulder

and say look at what you did have.

No matter how poor we were, we did

not even have a car, I was always in church.

I thought about our amazing God.

I saw love in action, where people

considered me and my family’s needs.

Sandy and I had an experience with God in

the first year of marriage that caused me to

want to know God more…

So I taught myself to read using the Bible.

It was not easy, but very rewarding and soon

others wanted to know what I had discovered.

There are a lot of things that would have helped

develop my God-given shape…

Things I am so glad my children and grandchildren have.

Things Sandy and I have worked for them to have.

But the lesson is this…

It is up to you and I to get into shape.

To make sure the God-given shape

is developed in a healthy way.

You and I need to take personal

responsibility to grow and mature.

To use whatever resources we have.

The second thing is, we need to help

others develop their God-given shape.

We need to build others up.

So often when we think of getting into

shape or realize we are out of shape…

We think of a lack of proper diet and exercise.

As important as a healthy body is,

 we need to remember…

For bodily exercise profiteth little:

but godliness is profitable unto all things,

having promise of the life that now is,

and of that which is to come.

1 Timothy 4:8 KJV

“Godliness is profitable unto all things”

Spiritual training brings

profit to all areas of life.

What do you consider as spiritual

training in your life right now?

You might be concerned about your

physical shape…

But what about your spiritual shape?

The years go by so fast and before

you know it, you can be out of shape…

Suffering, seeing doctors, and limiting

the things you wish you could do.

No matter what your back ground is…

What lack you might think you have…

God has given you everything you

need for life and godliness.

 1 Peter 1:3

Timothy tells us when we exercise

godliness it reaps benefits,

having promise of the life that now is,

and of that which is to come.

It is worth it.

 Developed your God-given shape.

Your shape has great potential.

Babies do grow.

 The question is…

Will they grow to be healthy or not?

Whether you are short, like me…

Or, tall like my kids and grandkids…

 Your height does not matter.

 It is your health.

Health is something you exercise daily to obtain.

You don’t have to belong to the pastor’s family,

you can be single and alone and exercise godliness.

Develop your body, soul and spirit.

Develop your personality, talents, and gifts.

Develop your experiences.

You are so unique and precious.

It is all apart of the shape

God has given you with the…

Promise of the life that now is,

and of that which is to come.

Scripture Reading

2 Peter 1:3-4 NIV

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

1 Timothy 4:8 KJV

8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
