Insecurity
What Are You Made Of?
You are made of many things
Things that shape who you are
One of those things is your experiences
Some of the most interesting people are the ones that have a crisis story
A professional sky diver survives a fiery plane crash
It was Mickey Robinson’s experience that God used for his good
Mickey says it this way…
“I’m blown away that God loves me.
I’m blown away that
I –God took a mess and made a masterpiece out of it.
Not my masterpiece; His.”
Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
What Are You Made Of?
Some of the most interesting people
are people with a crisis story.
I have a friend who loved sky diving.
Mickey Robinson was a professional skydiver; he loved falling from the heavens and drifting safely to earth. But one day just after takeoff for a practice jump, the plane’s engine stalled, hurling Mickey and his companions toward the ground at over 100 miles an hour. “The motor just quit and we had an aerodynamic stall. It was no hope. You had seconds, and then we impacted.”
The plane hit the ground and cart wheeled to a stop. “With my leg sticking out what was now a hole inside of the fuselage, and with my hand I was pulling, but something had a hold of my equipment, and I was trapped. And I was soaked with airplane gasoline and on fire from head to toe.”
His friend fought through the flames and pulled Mickey out. In severe pain and losing consciousness, Mickey asked God for help. “For the first time in my life, a man that was totally self sufficient, I relied on my own natural ability and my own strength. For the first time in my life, I called out to a God I didn’t even know and never served. I just said, ‘God, please help me. I’m sorry. Give me another chance.’”
At the hospital, it was quickly evident to the doctors that his chances of survival were not good. “They didn’t think I’d make it through the night.
He wrote a book detailing his experiences called Falling into Heaven. Mickey says of all the miracles he has been a part of in his life, it is God’s love that has meant the most to him.
“I’m blown away that God loves me. I’m blown away that I –God took a mess and made a masterpiece out of it. Not my masterpiece; His.”

Your experiences are a part of who you are.
They were never meant to destroy you,
but to bring you into a greater good.
We read and quote Romans 8:28…
And we know that in all things God works
for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
Sadly, some of us miss it.
We don’t see God working
in our life for the good.
The enemy tries to blind us from love…
All things God works for
the good of those who love him.
Before the plane crash, Mickey,
did not love God, yet God loved him.
Mickey says…
“I’m blown away that God loves me.
I’m blown away that
I –God took a mess and made a
masterpiece out of it.
Not my masterpiece; His.”
Hanging on to our love for God is the
only way we can see God’s good work.
Hanging on to our love for God
is the only way to see the
purpose you are called to.
Life can be hard.
It can seem impossible to
come out of hardship.
But God wants to make
you and I overcomers.
Romans 8:30 tells us God’s intention is to
not only justify us from sin, but glorify us.
Verse 31 says…
“If God is for us who can be against us?”
Verse 34 asks a powerful question…
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
We don’t read the rest of the verses
in Romans 8 to see everything on
earth is going to be just fine.
We don’t read about a spiritual space
shield that keeps all harm from us.
In fact, it is just the opposite.
Verse 37 shows us how all things work
together for the good of those who love Him…
No, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him who loved us.
It is through love,
we conquer the devising effects of life.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life,
neither angels nor demons,
neither the present nor the future,
nor any powers, neither height nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love
of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
There is only one power that enables you
and I to overcome the experiences of life.
Only one way we can see God’s good
intentions for our experiences in life.
The overcoming power is…
The power of love.
Love for God.
Every experience in your life
has one of two conclusions…
It will either destroy you.
Or, make you stronger.
Mickey says it so well…
“I’m blown away that God loves me.
I’m blown away that
I –God took a mess and made
a masterpiece out of it.
Not my masterpiece; His.”
God wants to blow
you away with His love.
God wants to make a
masterpiece out of your mess.
Scripture Reading
Romans 8:28-ff NIV
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all — how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died — more than that, who was raised to life — is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
