Come, Lord Jesus
My Reward is With Me
Jesus is coming soon and He will reward everyone
He will pay each one of us from the beginning to the end of time
According to what we have done
Our service matters
God is just and must reward right and wrong
If this is not what you wanted to hear than turn to God, make Him Lord of your life
Because a servant worships and dedicates their life to Him
Part of His justice is to forgive
John writes this to believers, not unbelievers
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
All of us struggle with our servanthood to our Lord Jesus Christ
If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. 1 John 1:10
How are we doing as servants?
What have we done and what will be our reward?
My Reward is With Me
The second time Jesus says
“I am coming soon”…
He tells us what He is bringing.
When Jesus came 2000 years ago He
came to bring redemption and salvation…
For God did not send his Son into the
world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him.
John 3:17
This time Jesus says,
“My Reward is with Me”.
The word “reward” means
“pay for services”, “good or bad”
Jesus tells us who will be rewarded…
“I will give to everyone”
Everyone will receive
payment for their services…
“According to what he has done”.
Jesus also tells us how far back His records go…
I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the First and the Last,
the Beginning and the End.
Jesus will pay for services
from the beginning to the end.
Verses 14 and 15 show
us a division of rewards…
"Blessed are those who wash their robes,
that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. Revelation 22:14,15
The dialog between John and the Angel before
Jesus speaks, “I am coming soon”, is very
much a part of Jesus’ coming with rewards.
First thing we see is the proper direction of worship…
I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. But he said to me, "Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers the prophets and of all who keep the words of this book. Worship God!"
The angel says I am a fellow servant…
We all are called to be servants of God.
This is our duty to serve
and worship our Creator.
There are a lot of great people
and things in our lives…
But they are all created by God.
"You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being."
Revelation 4:11
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie,
and worshiped and served created
things rather than the Creator
— who is forever praised. Amen.
Romans 1:25
The Angel tells John…
Then he told me, "Do not seal up the words
of the prophecy of this book,
because the time is near.
Revelation 22:10
“Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book”
The words of the Book of Revelation are
to remind us of Christ’s second coming.
To remind us He will be coming
with His reward to “pay for services”.
John is told something very interesting…
Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong;
let him who is vile continue to be vile;
let him who does right continue to do right;
and let him who is holy continue to be holy.
Revelation 22:11
He is not told to stop people
from what they are doing.
He is not to be the policeman.
The Gospel has never been
about stopping wrong doers.
It has been about following Jesus.
Following Jesus changes the heart…
Which changes what and how we do things.
We sometimes wonder why God
allows people to do wrong and
wonder why they get away with it.
The Angel says…
“Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong”
John, like you and I, are to
point people to their Creator.
You can teach right and wrong…
And never save a soul.
(Look at our schools and colleges and
what they are teaching as right and wrong.)
But if you teach and preach of a loving God…
Who is just and righteous
Who also does not want anyone
excluded from being saved.
The person who accepts Jesus and follows Him
will not only change their ways, but be rewarded.
Jesus is coming soon and
He will reward everyone.
He will pay each one of us from
the beginning to the end of time
according to what we have done.
Our service matters.
God is just and must reward right and wrong.
If this is not what you wanted to hear than
turn to God and make Him Lord of your life…
Because a servant worships
and dedicates their life to Him.
Part of His justice is to forgive.
John writes this to believers, not unbelievers…
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
and will forgive us our sins and
purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
All of us struggle with our servant-
hood to our Lord Jesus Christ.
If we claim we have not sinned,
we make him out to be a liar and
his word has no place in our lives.
1 John 1:10
How are we doing as servants?
What have we done and what will be our reward?
