Come. Lord Jesus
Come
Come may be a simple word
But what does it mean when we say, “Come, Lord Jesus”?
The word ‘come’ tells us there is a distance
A space between
When we say “Come, Lord Jesus” the word “come” becomes an invitation
An invitation is given because of a desire
This life is so much better when the Lord is with us
We should have a deep desire
Not just because things are bad in our lives, but when they are good
A desire to see Him face to face and welcome His coming and rule
We talk about His soon return
But how great is our desire to see Him come
Jesus said, “I am coming soon”
John said, “Amen”
How strong is our Amen?
Is there anything on your schedule you want Him to wait for?
Or, is your love for Him so great you want to see Him come today
Come
Come may be a simple word.
But what does it mean when we say…
“Come, Lord Jesus”?
The word ‘come’ tells us there is a distance.
A space between.
When we say, “Come, Lord Jesus”…
The word “come” becomes an invitation.
An invitation is given because of a desire.
You and I need to look at the distance
between us and the Lord Jesus Christ.
The distance is sometimes
recognized when we are in need.
When we need help, His strength or
wisdom for a problem or trouble in our lives.
The Psalmist says…
But you, O LORD, be not far off;
O my Strength, come quickly to help me.
Psalms 22:19
It is wonderful to know the
Lord desires to come and help us.
God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."
So we say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"
Hebrews 13:5-6
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Psalms 46:1
Love causes a deep desire to come closer
as the Book of Song of Solomon reveals.
Song of Solomon 1:4
Take me away with you — let us hurry!
Let the king bring me into his chambers.
Song of Solomon 1:4
As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?
Psalms 42:1-2
Maybe a question we should ask ourselves is…
Why are we asking the Lord to come?
How close do we want to get to Him?
Getting close to God can
and should be fearful.
Show proper respect to everyone:
Love the brotherhood of believers,
fear God, honor the king.
1 Peter 2:17
Getting close to the Lord reveals
our weaknesses and sin in light
of His righteousness and justice.
Do not let your heart envy sinners,
but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD.
Proverbs 23:17
"Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined!
For I am a man of unclean lips,
and I live among a people of unclean lips,
and my eyes have seen the King,
the LORD Almighty."
Isaiah 6:5
After telling us of the things to
come before the return of Christ…
Both the terrifying and
the wonderfully amazing,
Jesus ends the Book of
Revelation with these words.,,
He who testifies to these things says,
"Yes, I am coming soon."
Revelation 22:20
John who sees and hears it all firsthand, says…
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
Revelation 22:20
While we wait in this life…
It is ok to ask God to come help us.
It is good to worship and praise Him
and experience His presence as
He fills our hearts with His love…
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Psalms 100:1-2
This life is so much better
when the Lord is with us.
We should have a deep desire not
just because things are bad in our
lives, but when they are good.
A desire to see Him face to face
and welcome His coming and rule.
We talk about His soon return.
But how great is our desire to see Him come?
Jesus said, “I am coming soon”.
John said, “Amen”.
How strong is our Amen?
Is there anything on your schedule
you want Him to wait for?
Or, is your love for Him so great
you want to see Him come today.
