Come, Lord Jesus Looking for His Coming

Come, Lord Jesus

Looking for His Coming

Revelation 22 is the last chapter in the Bible

These are the final words recorded of Jesus

In this chapter we find Jesus says three times

I am Coming Soon

Verses 7, 12, and 22

We cannot appreciate Jesus’ final words in the last chapter of the Bible

Unless we have a longing for His appearing

Like the Old Testament believers recorded in the great Hall of Faith

They were longing for a better country — a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. Hebrews 11:16

Paul said it this way

For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-8

How about you and I, are we looking forward to the day of Christ’s return?

Are we ready today?

Looking for His Coming

Revelation 22 is the last chapter in the Bible.

These are the final words recorded of Jesus.

In this chapter, we find Jesus says three times…

I am Coming Soon

Verses 7, 12, and 22

Anytime something is repeated,

it is a sign of importance.

The Old Testament Prophets

spoke of a soon coming Messiah.

In Jesus Christ, we find

those prophecies fulfill.

Throughout the Gospels,

Jesus speaks of His purpose to…

Teach Kingdom principles

Die for the sins of the people

And return again.

After Jesus’ resurrection from the dead…

 He returned to earth with

many convincing proofs.

 Acts 1:3

For 40 days He spoke about the Kingdom of God.

 Acts 1:4

He gave instructions to believers to

receive the power of the Holy Spirit.

And witness to the world and make

disciples of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom.

 Acts 1:4-7; Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 15-18

As Jesus was taken up into the clouds…

Two men dressed in white stood

beside the disciples and said…

"Men of Galilee," they said,

"why do you stand here looking into the sky?

This same Jesus,

who has been taken from you into heaven,

will come back in the same way you

have seen him go into heaven."

Acts 1:11

Throughout the rest of the New Testament…

 We find many reminders

concerning the Lord Jesus’ return.

John who recorded the Book of

Revelation of Jesus Christ…

Records Jesus’ words in the Gospel of John.

Jesus’ words in the Gospel takes us on a

journey to the words of Jesus

in Revelation 22:7,12, and 22…

 I am coming soon.

The Words of Jesus told the disciples

they could not go where He was going.

We would be separated not only from

Him, but remain in a fallen world who

killed Jesus and rejected His teachings…

You will look for me,

but you will not find me;

and where I am,

you cannot come.

 John 7:34

'You will look for me,

but you will not find me,'

and 'Where I am ,

you cannot come'?

John 7:36

I know where I came from and where I am going.

But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going.

John 8:14

I told the Jews, so I tell you now:

Where I am going, you cannot come.

John 13:33

It isn’t until the end of

John 13, we receive hope.

Jesus replied,

"Where I am going, you cannot follow now,

but you will follow later.

John 13:36

In Chapter 14 we find why we

cannot be where He is going…

I am going there to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you,

I will come back and take you to be

with me that you also may be where I am.

You know the way to the place where I am going.

 John 14:2-4

It is the Book of Revelation that gives us a

picture of this place Jesus is preparing for us.

The night Jesus was betrayed He prayed.

At the end of His prayer…

He asked the Father to not only be with

Him, but to see all the glory of God.

Father, I want those you have given

me to be with me where I am,

 and to see my glory,

the glory you have given me because you

loved me before the creation of the world.

John 17:24

We cannot appreciate Jesus’ final words

in the last chapter of the Bible unless..

We have a longing for His appearing.

Like the Old Testament believers

recorded in the great Hall of Faith…

They were longing for a better country — a heavenly one.

Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God,

for he has prepared a city for them.

Hebrews 11:16

Paul said it this way…

For I am already being poured out like a drink offering,

and the time has come for my departure.

I have fought the good fight,

 I have finished the race,

I have kept the faith.

Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness,

which the Lord, the righteous Judge,

will award to me on that day

— and not only to me,

but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

2 Timothy 4:6-8

How about you and I…

 Are we looking forward to

the day of Christ’s return?

Are we ready today?
