How to Pray Your Kingdom Come

How to Pray
Your Kingdom Come

Heaven and earth over lapped
When Jesus came preaching the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand
The overlapping came with violence
As Jesus conquered man’s greatest enemy, death
The Kingdom is both "at hand" and a future reality
When we pray “your kingdom come”
We pray with hope of a dominion rather than a territory
God’s Kingdom rule of righteousness, peace and joy
The Kingdom of Heaven overlaps earth as we submit and serve the Lord
The Father is pleased to give you the Kingdom
Look for the Kingdom
And pray the Kingdom to come each day in your life and in the earth today

Your Kingdom Come

The Kingdom of Heaven or Kingdom of God
is a foundational concept in Christianity, and
it is the central theme of Jesus of Nazareth's
message in the synoptic Gospels.

The phrase occurs in the New Testament more than
100 times, and is defined almost entirely by parables.

According to Jesus, the Kingdom of God is within
(or among) people, it is approached through
understanding, and entered through acceptance like
a child, spiritual rebirth, and doing the will of God.

It is a Kingdom propelled by the
righteous and is not the only kingdom.

Jesus did not define Kingdom by
territory but by dominion.

Jesus said of the Kingdom of God that one
cannot say, “Look here it is!” or “There it is!”

Jesus' words in the Sermon on the
Mount shows that those who follow
the "beatitudes" are rewarded with the
Kingdom of God/inheriting the earth/comfort, etc.

It appears that there were two sides to this Kingdom:
a peaceful side as well as a judgment side.

The latter message was communicated in many
of the parables such as the tares and wheat
(Matthew 13) and the sheep and goats (Matthew 25).

Paul and others continued this double-edged
message in their preaching (Acts 17:30-31).

The Kingdom is both "at hand"
and a future reality. (see Mark 1:15)

It is the timing of the Kingdom
that we so often misunderstand.

Jesus said pray “your Kingdom come”.

The coming of the Kingdom.

It is a good thing for us to desire
the coming of the Kingdom.

Jesus’ followers looked forward
to the Kingdom Jesus taught about.

They shouted Hosanna in the streets,
but in a few days the King of
the Kingdom was put to death.

For centuries God’s people have
been praying “Your Kingdom come”.

Most of them believed they would
see the future reality in their life time.

It was their prayers and vision of the coming
Kingdom that has opened our eyes to see that the
Kingdom is still both "at hand" and a future reality.

The Kingdom is under violent attack,
 but don’t worry…

Do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom , and these things will be given to you as well.
Luke 22:29-30

Remember…

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.
Romans 14:17-18

There will be a day of eating and drinking…

And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.
Luke 12:29-32

Why?

 Because the Father is pleased
to give you the Kingdom.

Look for the Kingdom and pray the Kingdom to
come each day in your life and in the earth today.

Scripture Reading

Matthew 6:9-13 NIV

9 "This, then, is how you should pray:

"'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.'
