How to Pray Deliver From the Evil One

How to Pray
Deliver From the Evil One

Remember the Lord’s Prayer is a daily prayer
I have had days where everything goes wrong, it is like demons are in everything
There are days I encounter people who display the very character of the evil one
There are times sickness and depression comes as a dark cloud
No wonder Jesus says to pray, deliver us from the evil one
Satan, the evil one, wants to sift you like he did Peter
The evil one wants to steal, kill and destroy John 10:10
Robbing your soul is his main target
To get you discouraged, full of doubt and fear
Every day these things come upon you
Are days you and I need to pray, “deliver us from the evil one”
So pray “deliver us from the evil one”
Note the word “us”
You are not alone, and others battling the evil one, need you to pray for them
Thank you Lord for destroying all the works of the evil one

Deliver From the Evil One

I must confess there are times I have focused
too much on the evil one, the devil, or Satan.

Than there have been times it
seemed as if I was not aware he exists.

Jesus brings our attention to the very fact
that we need deliverance from the evil one.

He is actively working around us.

If Jesus’ instruction on prayer is also an emphases
on regular or daily pray like “give us this day
our daily bread” than Jesus wants us to be aware
of the evil one’s daily influence in our lives.

The Greek word for evil in Matthew 6:13
is pronounced “poneros” its definition is lengthy...
  1. full of labors, annoyances, hardships
    1. pressed and harassed by labors
    2. bringing toils, annoyances, perils; of a time full of peril to Christian faith and steadfastness; causing pain and trouble
  2. bad, of a bad nature or condition
    1. in a physical sense: diseased or blind
    2. in an ethical sense: evil wicked, bad

We have many examples in the
scriptures of the evil one’s work…

Tempting and deceiving Adam and Eve
Genesis 3:1

Destruction of life and physical suffering
Job 1 & 2

Satan incites David
1 Chronicles 21:1

Satan tempts Jesus
Matthew 4

Satan takes away the Word from those who receive it
Mark 4:15

Satan gets in the mind of Peter
Mark 8:33

Satan kept crippled a woman for 18 years
Luke 13:15

Satan enters Judas
Luke 22:3

Jesus prays for Peter because
Satan wants to sift him like wheat
Luke 22:31

Satan fills Ananias heart
Acts 5:3

Jesus regularly confronted evil spirits
Matthew 10:1; Mark 1:27, 3:11

Jesus’ disciples confront evil spirits
Mark 6:7

Evil spirits cause sickness, disease, insanity
Luke 6:18, 7:21, 8:2 Acts 5:16, 8:7, 19:12 &13

Satan even has a synagogue in the
same place where believers live
Revelation 29-13

I have had days where everything goes wrong.

It is like demons are in everything.

There are days I encounter people who
display the very character of the evil one.

There are times sickness and
depression comes as a dark cloud.

No wonder Jesus says to pray,
deliver us from the evil one.

Satan, the evil one, wants to
sift you like he did Peter.

The evil one wants to steal, kill and destroy.
John 10:10

Robbing your soul is his main target.

To get you discouraged, full of doubt and fear.

Every day these things come upon you
are days you and I need to pray…

“Deliver us from the evil one”

Know the evil one’s devices and know
that Jesus has authority over ever work
of the evil one or his demons, evil spirits.

Know that the name of the Lord is a high
tower and those who run into it find safety.
Proverbs 18:10

When you pray in Jesus’ name,
Jesus intercede,
the Spirit of God intercedes for you
Romans 8:26, 27

Just like Peter, Jesus will pray to the
Father that Satan will not sift you.

Don’t get caught up in talking to the evil one.

Jesus rebuked evil spirits and moved on.

Spend time talking to the Father in prayer
because He had your best interest in mind.

 The evil one’s conversations will
only be words of deception and lies.
John 8:44

So pray…

“Deliver us from the evil one”

Note the word “us”.

You are not alone.

 Others battling the evil one
need you to pray for them.

Thank you Lord for destroying
all the works of the evil one.

Scripture Reading

Matthew 6:9-13 NIV

9 "This, then, is how you should pray:

"'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.'
