In
Heaven
When we pray we say
“Our Father who is in Heaven”
What does Heaven look
like
The Scriptures tell
us some amazing things about the place our Father dwells
Even though Heaven is
above the earth where we live
Above the problems of
our lives
Our Father hears our
prayers
We are invited to
enter into His space
Where we can see
purity, holiness, righteousness, and truth
Where pure love,
peace and joy
Eclipse streets of
gold, gates of pearls, stars and all created things
All this may seem too
far above us
Yet, Our Father hears
us
In Heaven
Our God, Our Lord, Our Father is in Heaven.
The God who created every living thing.
The Lord over every servant.
The Father who makes those who love Him family.
Our Father is in Heaven.
Heaven
The dwelling place of God.
Both Old Testament
and New Testament writers
describe Heaven as the place where God dwells.
God is more than the sun that burns with fire.
The sun that gives light
but if you get too
close
it will consume you.
God is not something you see in the sky
even though He is described as
the sun and the stars as angels.
Heaven is more than the sky
and the stars at night.
We can only explain what we
cannot see by what we do see.
So as we read about Heaven
the things we can see,
we should
remember those things are to help
us see and understand the unseen.
God’s dwelling place is above, yet not so far away
that the Father does not hear our voice.
The priests and the
Levites stood to bless the people, and God heard them,
for their prayer
reached heaven, his holy dwelling place.
2 Chronicles
30:26-27
The Bible writers describe Heaven in tangible ways,
but the greatest
description of Heaven
is “His HOLY dwelling
place”.
The Book of Revelation gives us a look into
Heaven, the dwelling place of God the Father
and there we see strange creatures…
Day and night they
never stop saying:
"Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God
Almighty,
who was, and is, and
is to come."
Whenever the living
creatures give glory,
honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne
and who lives for ever
and ever
Revelation 4:8-9
The Bible also tells us God dwells
in His Church and in the believer.
But when Jesus teaches us to pray,
He wants us to see The Father
is above everything.
He is holy, set apart
and above
everything else and everyone.
It is this foundation that sets us up for what
Jesus says next, “hallowed be your name”.
As we pray “Our Father
who is in Heaven”
we are approaching God’s space.
The Father’s space is filled with the holiness,
the purity of the One who rules over
everything in righteousness and truth.
the earth where we live…
Above the problems of our lives…
Our Father hears our prayers.
We are invited to enter into His space…
Where we can see purity, holiness,
righteousness, and truth.
Where pure love, peace and joy
eclipse streets of gold, gates of pearls,
stars and all created things.
What makes Heaven great
is the Father’s character…
His Divine nature.
In Heaven is the Holy of Holies.
Through Jesus, we are able to enter
Heaven where our Father dwells.
This is wonderful.
The rest of the instruction teaches us what we do
when we approach “Our
Father in Heaven”.
Scripture Reading
Matthew
6:9-13 NIV
9
"This, then, is how you should pray:
"'Our
Father in heaven,
hallowed
be your name,
10 your
kingdom come,
your will
be done
on earth
as it is in heaven.
11 Give
us today our daily bread.
12
Forgive us our debts,
as we
also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And
lead us not into temptation,
but
deliver us from the evil one.'
