The Saddest Day in History
I once knew a man who asked God
what color of socks to wear each morning.
He did nothing without asking God first.
Consequently, he had been frustrated
and confused because God was not answering.
God wants to develop our abilities
to make wise decisions.
In the Garden,
God gave Adam and Eve freedom to choose…
any fruit!
from any tree!
any time!
Only one stipulation,
don't eat from the tree
in the center of the garden!
You and I have lots of choices in life that are not
wrong.
If we stick to those choices,
we will find blessing.
If we take daily walks with God,
He will guide us to healthier choices.
There were a lot of sad events
the day Adam and Eve chose to disobey God.
But the saddest part of all
was not the consequences man suffered.
The saddest thing was God’s voice
in the cool of the day:
“Where are you?”
The saddest thing was the heartbreak of God
who made man in His image
so He could bestow His love,
pleasure and fellowship on them.
I am sure you know a parent
who has lost a child
because of wrong choices.
A parent that grieves
everyday of their life.
This was a day of grief for God.
As much as we grieve over
the pain and consequences
we face from that day,
it would be selfish and foolish not
to see it hurt our Creator God more.
Adam and Eve had the choice
of every other tree in God’s garden.
God had given them freedom to choose.
God did not tell them what they
were to eat each
morning;
it was their choice.
Would you like an orange, grapefruit,
or maybe a peach, or pear?
With all the wonderful choices that would bring
blessing,
why choose the ONE God forbid?
What makes it sadder
is that with all the wonderful choices
God has given us that bring blessing in life;
We still choose to listen to the serpent,
or our own wisdom,
rather than obeying God.
Many of us are hiding and afraid
BUT…
God still wants to take walks
with you and I each day.
He wants to hear about your day
and give you insight into life.
So how about it
are you ready to take a walk?
Scripture Reading
Genesis 3:1-10 NIV
3:1 Now the serpent
was more crafty than any of the wild animals
the LORD God had
made.
He said to the woman,
"Did God really
say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2 The woman said to
the serpent,
"We may eat
fruit from the trees in the garden,
3 but God did say,
'You must not eat
fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden,
and you must not
touch it, or you will die.'"
4 "You will not
surely die," the serpent said to the woman.
5 "For God knows
that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened,
and you will be like
God, knowing good and evil."
6 When the woman saw
that the fruit of the tree was good for food
and pleasing to the
eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.
She also gave some to
her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
7 Then the eyes of
both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked;
so they sewed fig
leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
8 Then the man and
his wife heard the sound of the LORD God
as he was walking in
the garden in the cool of the day,
and they hid from the
LORD God among the trees of the garden.
9 But the LORD God
called to the man,
"Where are
you?"
10 He answered,
"I heard you in
the garden,
and I was afraid
because I was naked;
so I hid."
