The Curse of the Serpent

The Curse of the Serpent

When I worked at Jeep there was a fellow worker
whose nick name was Weasel.
I found a dead snake (about 5 1/2 foot long) on some shipping boxes.
I, and some fellow workers,
put this snake on Weasel's control buttons.
Weasel loaded his machine and reached back to press the buttons,
And as he pressed them down,
he saw the snake touching both hands.
He jumped, screamed, and ran out of the building.
We went out to find Weasel, but he was long gone!

Some people are terrified of snakes.

But you and I don't need to be.

Thanks to Jesus,
we have something better than a snake bite kit.

None of us like the idea of facing the consequences of our actions.

Most of us don’t think it is fair when the consequences come.

Many don’t think a loving God could allow,
let alone cause, consequences.

God made it clear to the serpent, Eve and Adam
that there would be consequences for their actions.

The curse of the serpent…

The curse is life-long crawling on the ground,
eating dust.

There is an interesting parallel here;
man was made from the dust of the earth.

There are two ingredients that made the first man.

The one is the dust of the earth
and the other is the breath of God.

If we live our lives to gratify the dust part,
“the fleshly desires”
we are subject to snake bite.

But if we live our lives to gratify the breath part,
“the spiritual desires”
we give Satan nothing to feed on.

You and I do not have to go through life
fearing Satan and his followers.

He only has the right to bite
 those whose walk is self-serving.

The curse laid out a battle between
the children of Satan
and the children of Eve.

God has laid out a battle plan for this battle.

Through Jesus,
we have authority over Satan!

Romans 16:20 AMP

20 And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) be with you.

 In Galatians 4:4-6,
God said He sent His Son
to be born of a woman
to purchase our freedom.

God also made it possible for us to be adopted by God,
by putting the Spirit of His Son in our hearts
giving us the ability to call God our Father.

When we become sons of God,
we receive the authority to crush Satan under our feet.

It is better to get a bruised heel
by saying no to the Devil,
than getting bit doing as Satan says.

Scripture Reading

Genesis 3:13-15 NIV

13 Then the LORD God said to the woman,
"What is this you have done?"

The woman said,
"The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

14 So the LORD God said to the serpent,
"Because you have done this,

"Cursed are you above all the livestock
and all the wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
and you will eat dust
all the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel."
