Romans 8
The Power of Love
Is there anything that can separate you from the love of Christ?
Would you die for Him?
Or, maybe a better question is, would you live to the fullest for Him?
Many would fight for their spouse or children
Many would fight for their country because of love
Does our love for Christ make us fighters, conquerors of all that oppose Christ?
These four examples of love tell us
Love is more than knowledge of God
These verses describe passion, love to the end, even death
These verses show us gratefulness
These verses measure commitment
These verses show the power of love
The Power of Love
Love how do you define it?
Is love emotion?
Or, is it commitment?
Or, is it both?
Can love be kindled like a spark to a stack of dry wood?
Of all the songs written…
How many of them are about love?
Love, whether on a small scale or
a large scale, is what makes life good.
Romans 8 uses the word love, four times.
Each time we see the power of love.
Romans 5:7-8…
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God demonstrates the power of love.
God loves the sinners of the world.
Who are the greatest sinners you can think of?
Do you love them or hate them?
If you had a chance…
Would you bless them or curse them?
In past history, who was the greatest sinners?
Christ died for them.
What kind of love is this?
Romans 8:28-30…
And we know that in all things God works
for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed
to the likeness of his Son,
that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
And those he predestined, he also called;
those he called, he also justified;
those he justified, he also glorified.
What does God do for those who love Him?
Does He not work to see the purpose
He created men and women for? …
To be conformed into the likeness of His Son.
Through Jesus Christ those who love Him will find…
His call.
Through love we answer.
He justifies, if we love Him, He forgives.
He glorifies, if we love Him.
He shares all His glory
by making us co-heirs with Him.
Because we love Him…
He works out everything to
make us co-heirs with Christ.
Romans 8:5…
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine
or nakedness or danger or sword?
What kind of question is this?
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Those who bring trouble, hardship,
persecution, danger or death,
those people will they separate us
from the love of Christ?
How much does Christ love you?
How much do you love Christ’s love for you?
Christ started the spark of love
when He died for you.
Are you like a pile of dry wood
burning with extreme passion?
Romans 8:35-39…
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:
"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Is there anything that can separate
you from the love of Christ?
Would you die for Him?
Or, maybe a better question is…
Would you live to the fullest for Him?
Many would fight for their spouse or children.
Many would fight for their country because of love.
Does our love for Christ make us fighters,
conquerors of all that opposes Christ?
These four examples of love tell us.
Love is more than knowledge of God.
These verses describe passion…
Love to the end, even death.
These verses show us gratefulness.
These verses measure commitment.
These verses show the power of love.
