Romans 8 Love Conquers All

Romans 8

Love Conquers All

Why all things work together for the good of those who love HIM

Description: When Love Conquers All | Humans

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Romans 8:35

When a bride and a groom stand at the altar

And vow that their love for each other will not fail in hardships till death

They are expressing the power of their love

This power of love is the foundation of God’s commitment to us

And in the same way our love for God causes us to be conquers

Over destructive powers

There is nothing more powerful than love

Love keeps us together with God

God’s love for us and our love for God

Guarantees that all things will work out for our good

Not even death can separate us from God

Because of love nothing shall separate us from God

That is why all things work together for the good of those who love Him

Love Conquers All

Romans 8:28 is so often quoted to comfort people

who are facing challenging times.

The context around this verse is telling us…

Challenging times of suffering will come.

Life will not always be a bed of roses

but sometimes a bed of thrones.

All is not good in this life,

Jesus, Himself, said…

“In this world you will have trouble.”

Verse 35 and 36 tell us we will

face things that are not good…

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

Shall trouble or hardship or persecution

or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

As it is written:

"For your sake we face death all day long;

we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."

 Romans 8:35-36

If you have been in one of these situations,

you probably asked the question …

“What good can come out of this?”

Paul pulls out the stops.

He is not just talking about the day

you lost your job or got covid.

Paul is talking about the suffering of death.

How can Romans 8:28 be true?...

And we know that in all things God

works for the good of those who love him

We have to realize what is the “Good”.

The question in verse 35 is this…

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

The Good is Love.

Earlier verse 15 of Romans 8

we learned of God’s plan to adopt us.

Because of sin and the family of Satan

we come from…

We feel unworthy to be adopted.

 Verse 28 says…

God works the good for those who love Him.

He says…

Those who love Him,

who have been called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28

God purposed to love us while

we were still unworthy because of sin.

In our unworthiness,

God calls us and He calls us

with a purpose.

The purpose is this…

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Romans 8:29

God’s predestination plan is…

The same as it was in Genesis 1:26-27…

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

The predetermined plan of God is…

For us to be made or conformed into His image.

In Genesis 1:26…

Man and woman are made in God’s image

In Romans 8:30…

Men and women are called to be conformed into His image.

And in this verse,

we read what God did for us….

… he predestined,

he also called; those he called,

he also justified; those he justified,

he also glorified.

Romans 8:30

The confidence we have that God loves us

and is for us, comes from knowing…

He who did not spare his own Son,

but gave him up for us all — how will he not also,

along with him, graciously give us all things?

Romans 8:32

God has done all this for us

because He loves us.

He is not going to allow anyone to condemn.

After all this, Paul asks the question…

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

Romans 8:35

When a bride and a groom stand at the altar

and vow that their love for each other

will not fail in hardships till death.

They are expressing the power of their love.

This power of love is the foundation

of God’s commitment to us.

In the same way, our love for God

causes us to be conquers over destructive powers.

There is nothing more powerful than love.

Love keeps us together with God.

God’s love for us and our love for God

guarantees that all things will work out for our good.

Not even death can separate us from God.

Because of love…

Nothing shall separate us from God.

That is why all things work together for

the good of those who love Him.

Scripture Reading

Romans 8:28-39 NIV

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all — how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died — more than that, who was raised to life — is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

"For your sake we face death all day long;

we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
