Romans 12 Faith

Romans 12

Faith

Description: Faith Is Something We Do - Pastor Rick's Daily Hope

My faith in God is common with all who put their trust in God

The faith God distributes makes me different

As it reveals God’s personal purpose for me

Our faith in God unites us as one Body

But in the Body each member is given faith to be of value

God’s purpose for you is unique

What has God given you faith to do?

Remember faith comes by hearing,

Grow in your knowledge, this will increase your confidence

This will also give you mental visions of how to serve

Then go do it!

 Faith

How do you define faith?

Faith is the noun of belief.

Our it could be said what we think

(faith the noun) we do (belief the verb).

Our thinking or faith may be shallow

or it may be deep…

But behind what we do is faith.

So, faith touches every area of our lives.

Everybody has a PBS (personal belief system).

Hebrews 11:1 tells us…

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for

and assurance about what we do not see.

Faith gives us the confidence to hope and do.

Faith comes by hearing

Romans 10:17

The more knowledge you have…

 The more confidence you develop.

This confidence gives you the

ability to hope or dream.

The combination of confidence and hope

helps you to do the things you

have developed in your mind.

This development in your mind

is knowledge and vision.

You think about it till you can

see it, than you act on it.

This is the process of faith.

You can’t live without faith.

Now, faith comes without the Word of God…

But it comes with different results.

If you do not have faith in God…

Your Personal Belief System will need

to change in order to please God.

…without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

This tells us, “God pleasers”

believe in the existence of God, seek Him.

This is foundational…

Knowing God is the Creator of

everything we see and know.

This is why Romans 1:19-20 says…

For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.

Secondly, God pleasers seek out who God is.

There have been and always will be

those who claim to be God…

But only one has the evidence to prove He is God.

No greater proof has been given

than Jesus Christ’s virgin birth,

pure life, wrongful death.

And the most powerful evidence of all…

 He rose from the dead.

I know this is a long introduction…

But it is important to see everyone

lives by faith…

Just not all live by faith in God.

Faith in God is something

every believer must grow in.

The more you know about God

by seeking Him…

The more confidence you will

have to hope and walk out that hope.

Paul in Romans 12 3 talks about a faith

that is distributed to each believer

and then talks about our differences.

Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought,

but rather think of yourself with sober judgment,

in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

All of us must have faith in God.

This faith matures in each one of

us as our knowledge of Him grows.

But there is a faith that is especially distributed to you.

For example, although some are

confused and deceived…

God made you male or female.

You should have no problem in knowing

and acting your God given gender.

In the same way Paul says…

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Romans 12:6-8

With God’s distribution of faith comes giftings.

My faith in God is common with

all who put their trust in God.

The faith God distributes makes me different

as it reveals God’s personal purpose for me.

Our faith in God unites us as one Body.

But in the Body each member

is given faith to be of value.

God’s purpose for you is unique.

This is easily seen when you walk into a church.

The people are different.

God gives faith to some to help children.

And among them some have faith to make a difference

for the parents by caring for the babies.

Others, helping small children and others, teens.

Some have faith to make a difference

by cleaning and others by greeting.

God has more for you than just being saved.

He has given you a faith to

make a difference somewhere.

You see God believes in you.

Your inner desire to have meaning is from God.

We have a common faith.

But we also have a unique

and individual faith.

It is essential you believe in God.

It is also essential you believe

in God’s purpose for you.

If your gift is prophesying,

then prophesy in accordance with your faith.

If it is not prophesying, that is ok…

 What is your gift?

What has God given you faith to do?

Remember faith comes by hearing

 Grow in your knowledge…

 This will increase your confidence.

This will also give you mental visions of how to serve.

Then go do it!

Scripture Reading

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
