Insecurity
Don’t Stand Alone
Encouragement is so necessary
We need it daily
If we get into a place of encouraging others daily
We will find others encouraging us
Sow encouragement daily and you will reap encouragement daily
In the end, you will overcome insecurity and walk each day in faith
Don’t Stand Alone
Although there will be many times
you have to stand alone
standing alone is not a good place.
Isolation and insecurity go together.
Confidence is gained when you have support.
When I was in the hospital after being hit by a truck,
I could not do anything for myself,
but my grand children still saw me as Superman.
They made Superman art work to let me
know they thought I was a man of steel.
That was encouraging.
There is a reason sport teams have cheerleaders.
Covid has reminded us of how
important the fans are to their team.
We all will do more when we are encouraged.
You may be able to hurtle discouragement
but you will run faster when you
have the support of encouragement.
One of the best ways to get
encouragement is to be an encourager.
Hebrews 3:13 tells us to encourage others daily…
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today,
so that none of you may be hardened by
sin's deceitfulness.
Romans 14:21 says…
And everything that does not come from faith is sin.
The opposite of faith is doubt,
lack of confidence, fear.
So, the opposite of faith is insecurity.
You and I need help to overcome our
insecurities, to overcome fear, doubt,
and lack of confidence.
Daily you and I question and second guess ourselves.
It is insecurity that keeps us from trying.
We need others shouting from
the sidelines, saying you can do it.
Keep pressing for the prize,
the high call of God.
You and I need encouragement in the faith.
We don’t need the voices of condemnation…
But the cheerleaders, to press us on even if
the scoreboard says we are a loser.
If you have ever went out into the street
to share the Good News of Jesus
you probably felt a little uncomfortable.
I have seen many believers who felt they could not
ever share their faith, but put in a group
their confidence was as different as night and day.
Some of us can remember when we
first came to Christ, but after time
our confidence is not the same.
Hebrews 3:14 says to hold firmly to the
end the confidence we had at the first.
In order to hold firmly you and I
will need to be in fellowship with
other believers who will encourage us.
Encouragement is so necessary.
We need it daily.
If we get into a place of encouraging others daily…
We will find others encouraging us.
Sow encouragement daily and
you will reap encouragement daily.
In the end…
You will overcome insecurity
and walk each day in faith.
Scripture Reading
Hebrews 3:12-14 NIV
12 See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.
