Insecurity
Courage
Fear is overcome when faith in God’s presence and word is our reality
Turn on the light in the room and discover God’s presence
Live a life of prayer and worship without ceasing
This will help you see that God is with you
Make this your declaration
"The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"
Take Courage
Courage
Courage is…
The ability to do something that frightens one.
Strength in the face of pain or grief.
Many have given us quotes for Courage.
Courage is not simply one of the virtues,
but the form of every virtue at the testing point,
which means at the point of highest reality.
C.S. LEWIS
Courage is going from failure to
failure without losing enthusiasm.
WINSTON CHURCHILL
Courage is resistance to fear,
mastery of fear – not absence of fear.
MARK TWAIN
Courage is the most important of all the
virtues because without courage,
you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.
MAYA ANGELOU
Courage must come first,
Before any accomplishment
Before any virtue you have has value
You must have courage.
How do we turn our insecurities,
fears, doubts into confidence?
If confidence is boldness, and
courage, where does it come from?
Courage starts with what God has said…
God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."
Hebrews 13:5
Where did God say this?
God spoke through Moses telling the Israelites
in Deuteronomy 31, He would go before them.
The Lord would destroy their enemies.
In verse 6, He says…
Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid or terrified because of them,
for the LORD your God goes with you;
he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Deuteronomy 31:6
Our courage comes from the
promise that God is with us.
The verse in Hebrews 13 that precedes
I will never leave you,
speaks of marital unfaithfulness and
contentment because of a love for money.
God never leaves us…
No matter what we are doing.
God does not give courage as a
license to do whatever you want.
Our courage comes when we
know God approves of our actions.
Once we know what God says (note verse 5),
then we can confess the words in verse 6…
So we say with confidence
What are those words
we say with confidence?
"The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"
This is a quote of the
Psalmist in chapter 118:6-7.
Fear is overcome when faith in
God’s presence and word is our reality.
Turn on the light in the room
and discover God’s presence.
Live a life of prayer and
worship without ceasing.
This will help you see
that God is with you.
Make this your declaration…
"The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"
Take courage!
