Your Family God’s Family
It is so important to
build strong united families
But if our children
are not a part of the Family of God the Father, we missed it
If we want our
children to receive the blessing of the Father in Heaven
We need to connect
them to His Family
Build an Eternal
Family not just a Generational One
How connected are you
and your family to God’s Family?
Where will you and
your family be this Sunday?
Your Family God’s
Family
What is your greatest objective
as a parent for your children?
We set goals for our children like…
Seeing that they get good grades
Get along with others
Go to college
Become successful
Find the right spouse.
As a parent, we have lots of goals,
dreams, and expectations for our children.
But what do you think is the most important?
I think it is that our children
become a part of the Family of God.
I know we might think…
Yes, I want my kids
to
get saved and go to Heaven.
But let’s think about this…
Let’s examine this a little deeper.
In Ephesians 3 verse 14 Paul says…
For this reason I
kneel before the Father.
Paul is giving the Gift of
Honor to the Father in Heaven.
Paul is not just saying this, he
sees the scope of God the Father.
He sees the awesome size
of His Family when he says…
From whom his whole family in heaven
and on earth derives
its name. verse 15
His whole Family!
He is not talking
about every
one born into this world.
Paul sees the ones who become part of
God’s Family who have died and are
in heaven and those here on earth.
Think about it…
Our greatest goal as
a parent is to see
our children are a part of God’s Family.
We emphasize having a personal relationship
with God and we cannot stress that enough.
But what about being a part
of God the Father’s Family?
Paul prays this amazing prayer for
the children of the Heavenly Father…
I pray that out of his
glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your
inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray
that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with
all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of
Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled
to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Glorious riches,
Power of the Spirit in our inter being,
rooted and established in love.
The kind of love that goes beyond knowledge.
Filled to the top with the fullness of God.
I will receive that prayer.
Then Paul says…
Now to him who is able
to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that
is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
This immeasurably, more than our
imagination of power in our lives
is to bring Him Glory in the Church…
And throughout all generations.
If this is to happen, I need
to look at my role as a father.
Throughout all generations,
right now is my
generation…
My age, my period of time.
Our Father in Heaven has a Family.
A huge Family in heaven and earth.
But don’t let the size of the Family overwhelm you.
You, right now, are the generation
to carry on the Father’s legacy.
And our role is to
connect our children to the Family.
Paul also talks about it as the Church.
Our Father in Heaven wants
His Family together in unity.
The power and blessings come within the Family.
As Sandy and I raised our children, we
made sure they were a part of the Church.
Church Life is Family Life.
I am old enough to see families that did not
make the Church Family a strong emphases.
I have seen the children and
grandchildren drift away from God.
If you and I want
our family to be a
part of the Family of God the Father…
If we want them to enjoy
the blessing Paul prayed for…
“Filled with the Fullness
of God”
Then we need to be with the Family of God.
We need to be in the Church regularly, building
relationships and serving the Family of God.
Just like you want your family together…
Our Heavenly Father wants His Family together.
Where will your family be this Sunday?
