Calling To Be and Give Blessing

Calling
To Be and Give Blessing

Blessing brings happiness
When we are blessed we smile, we feel good, we are on top of the world
I think our first Calling is to be Blessed
God wants you to be Blessed
Are you confident in the Blessing of God?
Are you positive like the Psalmist of Psalms 34?
Can you Bless those who despitefully use you?
Like Jesus said in Matthew 5 in His Sermon on the Mount
Can you recognize the conditions of Blessings
Jesus spoke about in the Sermon on the Mount  Matthew 5:3-10
This is where we start our Calling is with BLESSING
God blessed them Genesis 1:28
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing,
because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9

To Be and Give Blessing

When you and I read Genesis 1
and try to wrap our brain around
6 days of creation and a day of rest

When we try to imagine the Power of
His Word to speak things into existence

When we try to picture God as we
see ourselves as the image of God

We need to be careful not to read
too quickly over words in verse 28…

God blessed them

Throughout time people have
looked for the Blessing…

The Blessing of God

 The Blessing of parents

Blessing was so important that the ritual
of a father laying his hands on his son’s
head before he died was and still is
a powerful and sought after thing.

Blessing…

There is a lot you can say about this word.

It is a good word.

These words come between
God creating us in His image

And the Call of responsibility
to care for the earth.

God blessed them

The Blessing of God is evident in
His Grace (the expression of favor),

His love (that never fails),

His mercy (the hand that helps up get up after falling)

Blessing brings happiness.

When we are blessed we smile,
we feel good, we are on top of the world.

I think our first Calling is to be Blessed.

God wants you to be Blessed.

Before you can fulfill any Calling in
your life, you must receive the Blessing.

You must be happy and fulfilled.

You and I must recognize the power of
God’s Blessing in and on our lives.

I like what Peter says…

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult,
but with blessing, because to this you were
called so that you may inherit a blessing.
1 Peter 3:9

You and I were called to give a
Blessing so we may inherit Blessing.

The Foundation of your Calling(s)
is one thing… “BLESSING”.

We must know how to give it and receive it.

Peter goes on to quote Psalms 34…

For, "Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from deceitful speech.
He must turn from evil and do good;
he must seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
1 Peter 3:10-12

This Psalm is incredibly positive.

The Psalmist starts with saying…

I will extol the LORD at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
My soul will boast in the LORD;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the LORD with me;
let us exalt his name together.
Psalm 34:1-3

All times, always boasting in the Lord.

In verse 4 he says…

I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.

The Psalmist is incredibly positive and up lifting and
he wants others to have the same Blessing, so He says…

Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. v.8

The Psalmist is not unaware of trouble and hardship.

In fact he sees them as doors of God’s Blessing.

He also recognizes to receive a
Blessing, we must be a Blessing…

Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Verses11-14

Our tongue, keep it from evil,
do good, seek peace, pursue it.

This is our Calling.

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous V. 15

Even if we suffer for doing good,
 God’s eyes are on us
1Peter 3:13,14; Psalm 34:17

You are called to be Blessed
so that you might be a Blessing.

You are called to be positive
even in the face of adversity.

If you care about walking in your Calling
and Purpose than read Psalms 34:1.

In Peter 3:8-15, Peter says it this way…

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 1 Peter 3:15-16

Are you confident in the Blessing of God?

Are you positive like
the Psalmist of Psalms 34?

Can you Bless those who despitefully use you…

Like Jesus said in Matthew 5
in His Sermon on the Mount?

Can you recognize the conditions of Blessings
Jesus spoke about in the Sermon on the Mount?
Matthew 5:3-10

This is where we start our Calling is with BLESSING.

God blessed them
Genesis 1:28

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult,
but with blessing, because to this you
were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
1 Peter 3:9

Scripture Reading

Genesis 1:28-30 NIV
28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground — everything that has the breath of life in it — I give every green plant for food." And it was so.

Psalm 34:1-3 NIV

1 Peter 3:8-9 NIV
8 Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. 9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

Psalm 34 NIV
I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. 2 My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. 3 Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. 6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. 9 Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. 10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
11 Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. 12 Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, 13 keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. 14 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry; 16 the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. 18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; 20 he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.
21 Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. 22 The LORD redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him.
