Calling
Redemption
The most common use
of calling in the Bible is the calling to belong to Christ
The call to His
redemptive work
The calling is according to His purpose
The purpose of the
call was to make us like His Son, justified
and glorified
This call to belong
to Christ is also a call to participate
In His redemptive
work of the world
Every work place,
every vocation or call needs to embrace
The message or Word
of Reconciliation
We are called to meet
the natural and spiritual need in this world
And it starts right
where you are
The call to forgive
and love is to bring unity
This is peace and
agreement but it is also working together
The call of God is
never isolation
The One who called
you is faithful to reconcile your body
As well as your soul
and spirit
The call is to be
sanctified, in shape, good health, spirit, soul, and body
The call starts with
you, than to the rest of the world
Redemption
The most common use of calling in the Bible
is the calling to belong to Christ.
The call to His redemptive work.
Paul called to be an apostle said
his specific call was of apostleship.
Look at what he says in Romans 1…
Through him and for
his name's sake,
we received grace and
apostleship to call
people from among all
the Gentiles to
the obedience that
comes from faith.
And you also are among
those who
are called to belong to Jesus Christ.
To all in Rome who are
loved by
God and called to be
saints:
Romans 1:5-7
We have a calling to
belong to Jesus Christ…
Called to be saints
Paul speaks of this wonderful call in Romans 8: 28-30…
And we know that in
all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called
according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be
conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many
brothers. And those he predestined, he
also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also
glorified.
The calling is according
to His purpose.
The purpose of the call was to make
us like His Son, justified
and glorified.
Paul declares this calling is not to
some select group but to everyone,
all men to be saved,
by this he also meant women.
This is good, and
pleases God our Savior,
who wants all men to
be saved and
to come to a knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy
2:3-5
This call to belong to Christ is also a call to
participate in His redemptive work of the world.
2 Corinthians 5:17-6:1…
Therefore, if anyone
is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All
this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the
ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in
Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the
message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God
were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be
reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him
we might become the righteousness of God.
You and I who have accepted the call to
belong to Christ have been given the call
to share the message
of reconciliation.
If we are to explore the specifics of our call or purpose in
life…
We must first
understand our call to belong to Christ
and to share the word of redemption of the world.
Every work place, every vocation or call needs
to embrace the message or Word of Reconciliation.
This Word was from the beginning of creation,
this Word is God, this Word is Jesus.
In the beginning was
the Word,
and the Word was with
God,
and the Word was
God.
He was with God in the
beginning.
Through him all things
were made;
without him nothing
was made that has been made.
In him was life, and
that life was the light of men.
The light shines in the darkness,
but the darkness has
not understood it.
John 1:1-5
The redemptive work of God needs
to be activated in every workplace…
Through justice, healing, reconciliation,
compassion, kindness, humility and patience.
Colossians
3:12 -17
Our call to reconciliation is not limited to evangelism.
It encompasses everything necessary to make
the world what God always intended it to be.
We are called to participate in the work
of creation and the work of redemption.
The natural and spiritual aspects
of life needs our attention.
We are called to meet the natural and spiritual
need in this world, and it starts right where you are.
No ground is more important than another
for the whole earth needs to be full of His glory.
We are called to forgive and love.
Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
And over all these virtues put on love,
which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Colossians
3:13-14
The call to forgive and love is to bring unity.
This is peace and agreement but it is also working together.
The call of God is never isolation.
It is a call to unite as His Body, His Church,
to be a part of something bigger than yourself.
When you look at the specific call on New
Testament believers in the book of Acts, you
see the call was confirmed by the church.
And the church sent
the called one out with their backing.
The fingers may be able to reach higher than the foot…
But the hand cannot
reach the high places
unless it is connected to all the other parts
that are stretching all the way
down the body to the toes.
God’s call for you to belong to Christ and the
ministry of reconciliation encompasses
every part of your life…
Spirit, Soul, and Body.
May God himself, the
God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and
body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who
calls you is faithful and he will do it.
1 Thessalonians
5:23-24
The One who called you is faithful to reconcile
your body as well as your soul and spirit.
The call is to be sanctified, in shape,
good health, spirit, soul, and body.
The call starts with you than to the rest of the world.

the old has gone, the new has come! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us

Colossians 3:12-17 NIV
12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved,
clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against
one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put
on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as
members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the word
of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all
wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in
your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all
in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
