Calling
Gardening
I hope you like
gardening if you want to know what your Calling is
God created all the
amazing plants, animals, fish, birds and wonderful insects
God takes pleasure in
His creation
At the end of each
day God stood back and took pleasure as He looked and watched the very things He
created and said, “It is good”
How many times have
you enjoyed peacefully looking at a sunset
Or sat by the water’s
edge
How much joy, how
much pleasure has God’s creation given you
Shouldn’t the words
of the Palmist be our words in those moments
May the
glory of the LORD endure forever;
may the LORD rejoice in his works —
If we are ever to
fulfill our Calling of ruling over the earth
We will have to start
with ourselves
We need to get the
message out that the Creator of heaven and earth
Is worthy of praise
We need to do the
things that will cause Him to rejoice in His works
Take time each
evening to take a pleasurable walk with Him
Gardening
I hope you like gardening if you
want to know what your Calling is.
God created all the amazing plants, animals,
fish, birds and wonderful insects.
God takes pleasure in His creation.
At the end of each day, God stood back and
took pleasure as He looked and watched the
very things He created and said, “It is good”.
If you have ever given birth or as a father
held your new born baby in your arms…
You get an idea of
the overwhelming joy
and pleasure God experienced at
the end of each day of creation.
Psalms 104 is 35 verses of breathtaking
words of the Psalmist’s amazement of the
earth and skies God had created.
In verse 31 he says…
May the glory of the
LORD endure forever;
may the LORD rejoice
in his works —
How many trips have you taken,
how many movies or pictures have you seen
of the amazing things in this world?
How many times have you enjoyed peacefully
looking at a sunset or sat by the water’s edge?
How much joy, how much pleasure
has God’s creation given you?
Shouldn’t the words of the Palmist
be our words in those moments…
May the glory of the LORD endure forever;
may the LORD rejoice
in his works —
Shouldn’t we recognize the glory
of God and want to see it increase?
When I am in Florida enjoying sand, trees,
water, and the living things all around
me, I don’t want it to ever end.
Shouldn’t my prayer be…
“Lord let your glory endure forever”.
Shouldn’t my prayer be…
“God rejoice in your work”.
Many times as I sit in wonder as
the glory of God surrounds me…
With His created things I think…
This joy, this peace,
this purity of the
moment, is not the case in other places.
God’s glory is there…
But hatred, abuse,
war, and busyness
blind eyes to see
God’s glory.
Our desire to see God enjoy His
creation turns to self-gratification.
In the beginning God placed Adam
and Eve in the garden to care for it.
Genesis 2:15
God gave humans a very
special place in His creation.
A place of sufficiency.
They could eat of all
the trees
with the exception of one.
The earth was full of
minerals from stones to gold.
God gave them ownership.
They could name the
animals whatever they wanted.
After God had blessed them,
God called Adam and Eve
to…
“be fruitful, multiply”, “fill, replenish the earth”,
“subdue, control, keep things in proper
place”,
“take dominion,
fulfill the responsibility of keeping order”
God blessed them and
said to them,
"Be fruitful and increase in number;
fill the earth and
subdue it.
Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and
over
every living creature that moves on the ground."
Genesis 1:28
According to the Psalmist of Chapter 24…
The earth is the
LORD's, and everything in it,
the world, and all who
live in it.
The earth still belongs to the Lord.
He is the King of
glory.
But we are called to rule for Him in the earth.
Our prayer should be…
“Thy Kingdom come, they will be done
in earth as it is in
heaven”.
Our Calling is not a gift to do with as we want.
Our gift is to line up with the
glory God created things with.
Our Calling it to see…
“The LORD rejoice in His works”.
That His glory endures forever in all the earth.
God made the earth forgiving,
just like He is forgiving.
I remember when lake Erie was declared dead.
No one had hope of its returning back to life.
But God flushed it and brought in zebra mussels.
Stand on the shore of
the ocean and
recognize how large is our God.
Than look at the
smallest grain of sand
and know God made it, too.
You are called to recognize the large and the small.
Everything matters to
our God who created it.
If we are ever to fulfill our Calling
of ruling over the earth, we will
have to start with ourselves.
We need to get the message out that the
Creator of heaven and earth is worthy of praise.
We need to do the things that will
cause Him to rejoice in His works.
Take time each evening to take
a pleasurable walk with Him.
