Simple Faith The Yoke

Simple Faith
The Yoke

Life is complicated
A guide can simplify your journey
Jesus offers to be that guide but we must put on His yoke
Remember He is humble and gentle and requires the same from us
He will steer you through the complications and make your path simple
The weight of the burden is only the necessary things you need

The Yoke

Nobody needs to have the word complicatedly defined.

We all know what it is like to be overwhelmed
with too many things, too many moving parts.

What if you had a guide that met you at
every door of the overwhelming unknown.

I generally try to do things on my own.

I try to figure things out.

It probably comes from a poor childhood,
a feeling like I can’t afford the help
 that would make things easier.

I have done a lot of fishing,
 but my best fishing trip
was a trip I hired a guide.

The guide knocked on the door and
woke me up very early in the morning.

He waited for me to get ready.

He led me in the dark of night
through trees and a dirt path.

The guide supplied me with the fishing pole
(one too expensive for my budget).

He set up the line and leader and tied on the fly.

When we were at the water’s edge there were
trees and brush on every side and over my head.

There was no room to cast,
yet he told me to cast the line next to
a bush on the other side of the river.

He showed me how to cast a 12’ fly
rod and just how to present the lure.

All in the dark.

I remember catching my first steelhead
and the guide told me, don’t let
the fish go into the bushes in the water.

I thought he was crazy as steelhead are powerful
swimmers and are going to do what they want.

I said what do you mean?

The guide said the fish will go the opposite
direction of resistance.

Whichever way I pointed the rod tip,
the fish would go the other way.

Many things I learned that day and caught so many
fish I had to tell the guide I had enough for the day.

Fishing for steelhead can be complicated if
you have never fished for them before.

But a professional guide can make it
simple with their knowledge and help.

God knows this world is complicated to us.

Life and all its moving parts cause all
of us to look for simpler ways to do life.

Jesus offers to be our Guide.

Jesus said…

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus says when life is complicated
and you become weary and burdened,
“Come to me”.

The catch to a simpler life
is to take His yoke upon you.

When the yoke of Christ is
on you, you give up control.

From that yoke Jesus can steer
you through the complications.

He knows the path, even in the dark.

You don’t have to worry because you only
have two things to concern yourself about…

One, which way is God pulling on the yoke.

He will not hurt you when He pulls
because He is gentle and humble in heart.

He realizes you don’t have a clue.

We must remember joining Him will require
the same from us, humility and gentleness.

Second is move your feet.

The load Jesus puts on you is just what you need.

He is packing only the necessary
supplies for your journey.

And those supplies will give you
the nourishment and joy you need.

Many people seek the simple life style
where less is more, but never find it.

Finding the simple life style is
putting on the yoke of Christ.

Let Him lead you.
