Nature

Simple faith realizes the nature of God is love.

The nature of man is sinful.

This is a problem.

Sin is missing the mark.

Sin is falling short.

Sandy and I were on vacation and the resort we
were at had a corn hole game set up on the lawn.

I have never played and neither had Sandy.

There was no one else around so I
said let’s play corn hole. (I did not want
to embarrass myself in front of other.)

I threw the first bag to show Sandy how to do it.

WOW!!! To my surprise and to
Sandy’s the bag went into the hole.

We laughed and I bragged.

It was perfect, I hit the mark,
the arch was just right and the distance
spot on, not too short, not too long,
not too far to the right or left.

It was the perfect toss.

At that moment I knew
what it was like to be God.

Perfect

The problem was I had 3 more bags to
toss and my imperfection manifested.

God is perfect in love.

Everything He says and does is
a perfect manifestation of love.

There are times I say just the right
words to Sandy and she feels loved.

She is able to see right into my heart.

But then there are times I say or do
something that shows my self interest.

Amazingly, it is more natural for me to offend.

It is not that I cannot love or be perfect,
the problem is I cannot do it consistently.

I miss the mark and fall short and need forgiveness.

God is love, everything about Him expresses love.

For God so loved the world. John 3:16

God came not to condemn the
world but to save it. John 3:17

While we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

God disciplines those He loves. Hebrews12:6

You and I are separated from God
because of sin, a lack of perfect love.

It is only when we receive the gift of love,
Christ in our hearts that we can have hope.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
This is how God showed his love among us:
He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
This is love: not that we loved God,
but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another,
God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
1 John 4:7-12

Simple faith believes.

God’s nature is love.

Man’s nature is sin.

Man needs to be born of God.
1John 4:7

Because God is love.

He has made provision for our sin
by paying the price for sin.

For the wages of sin is death…

But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus.

When we receive God’s gift of
love we than are able to love.

This does not mean we always say and do
the right thing but we are aiming to do the
loving thing as God our Father instructs
us and Christ works in us.

When we miss the mark…

We have a Father we can confess to and
when we do He is faithful and just to forgive.
1 John 1:9

His forgiveness, His mercy gives
us another chance to get it right.

Only God can help us to get love right.

Scripture Reading

1 John 1:8-10 NIV

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

1 John 4:7-21 NIV

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

13 We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

19 We love because he first loved us. 20 If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.
