Simple Faith
Where Do We Start?
If you were to share
what you believe in,
In a simple way how would you do it
In a simple way how would you do it
How simple can you
describe your faith
Where do you start
For me faith starts
with one verse
Hebrews 11:6
Believe God exists
God wants to reveal
Himself to you and I
God does not make it
hard to find Him
God rewards those who
seek Him
It is that simple
Simple Faith
Where Do We Start?
If you were to share what you believe in,
in a simple way how would you do it?
in a simple way how would you do it?
How simple can you describe your faith?
Where do you start?
For me faith starts with one verse…
This verse is in the 11th chapter of Hebrews
which is called “The great hall of faith”.
This chapter tells the stories of people
throughout time that put their faith in God.
Out of these great stories is
a verse that very simply says…
Without faith it is
impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must
believe that he exists
and that he
rewards those who
earnestly seek him.
Hebrews 11:6
NIV
This verse describes faith in its simplest form.
“Must believe that He
(God) exist”
“And He (God) rewards
those who earnestly seek Him”
Faith starts with believing in the existence of God.
When life gets complicated and I can’t seem
to make since of it, I go back to the beginning.
Is there a God?
I step back from the confusion in my life and
look into the sky, there I see the sun or stars, or clouds.
I look at the trees and plants,
the land and the waters.
Then I look at my hands and with amazement
consider how every joint moves so wonderfully.
For me at this point I am
convinced there must be a God.
All I see could not have come into
existence from some evolutional process.
The order and ability to stand
the test of time is amazing.
Although I cannot fully understand it, it became
logical that there is a God who created it all.
If there is a God, who could that God be.
With many claiming they know
who God is and many claiming they
are God, how can I know the true God?
A simple examination of all the claims
and you can only come up with one answer.
The one history reveals rose from the dead.
Only Jesus Christ died and was buried
and rose (3 days) later and after 40 days
He revealed Himself to hundreds.
Then He ascended into
the clouds in
plain view of many eye witnesses.
Although this information is in the Bible
there are many other historical writings
outside the Bible that tell of Jesus’ life.
So for me, I start with simple faith.
I believe God exists, He is the one who
created the heaven and the earth.
I believe the only one throughout
history that could ever fit this
description is Jesus who conquered death.
The second part of the verse tells me…
“God rewards”
God is on a reward system.
What does He reward?
“Those you earnestly
seek Him”
God wants you to find
Him.
He wants us to grow in
our knowledge of Him.
Our faith is not to stay in a
shallow understanding of Him.
God wants you and I to know Him.
That is amazing.
God is not hiding from us.
God actually rewards us when we
take the effort to get to know Him.
It is the Bible that tells me more about the God
who created the heavens and the earth.
And the Bible tells me more
about the Jesus who conquered death.
The Bible also confirms God’s
desire for us to get to know Him.
Proverbs 8:17
I love those who love
me,
and those who seek me find me.
John 17:3-4
Now this is eternal
life: that they may know you, the only
true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom
you have sent.
Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but
be transformed by the renewing of your
mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God's will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Jeremiah 29:11-14
For I know the plans I
have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to
harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to
you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back
from captivity.
God wants to reveal Himself to you and I.
God does not make it hard to find Him.
God rewards those who seek Him.
It is that simple.
Scripture Reading
NIV
Hebrews 11:5-6
5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did
not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away.
For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please
God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he
rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Proverbs 8:17
I love those who love me,
and those who seek me
find me.
