Simple Faith
God is Truth
Just before the
crucifixion of Jesus there was this conversation
"You are a king, then!" said Pilate.
Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for
this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the
truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."
"What is truth?" Pilate asked. John 18:37-38
What is truth? Jesus said I
came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth
listens to me."
Simple Faith believes
in truth and finds its source in God
Simple Faith believes
God’s gift to us is truth and our gift to God is honesty
God is Truth
Simple faith believes God can
not lie but always speaks the truth.
Jesus said I am the Way,
and the Truth and the
Life.
In the Gospel of Mathew alone Jesus says…
“I tell you the truth” 30 times.
God can not lie or He would not be
God or at least someone we can trust.
Simple faith will say…
“Let God be true and every man a liar”
Romans 3:4
This means we start with the
reality that in God is all truth.
So we start with what
God
says and prove it out.
It is not enough to accept God’s Word as true,
we are to study it
and work it out in our lives.
The person who walks by faith does not walk blind
but looks at truth through the light God gives.
Simple faith has to believe in truth.
Although some say there is not absolute
truth, truth is a personal reality.
This is not truth.
Truth is a universal reality and if you
Truth is a universal reality and if you
do not accept the truth you will suffer consequences.
Truth demands evidence.
Prove all things and
hold fast that which is true.
God is not a man, that
he should lie,
nor a son of man, that
he should change his mind.
Numbers 23:19
The truth does not change with time and cultures.
The truth is the same yesterday, today and
forever.
Someone said the terrifying truth is…
“God is good and we
are not”
There are two fathers…
God who cannot lie
and
the devil who is the father of lies.
We are children of one or the other.
The native language of the devil is lies.
The native language
of God is truth.
Jesus said to them,
"If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now
am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. Why is my language not
clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your
father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a
murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in
him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the
father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of
you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe
me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is
that you do not belong to God."
John 8:42-47
It is hard for us to hear the truth
if we are unwilling to listen to it.
Someone said…
“The truth hurts, when
it ought to”
So often we try to complicate things in order to
make an excuse not to believe the simple truth.
God has not tried to hide the truth.
God spoke truth to us and it is recorded in scripture.
He lived truth as an example through Jesus Christ.
Just before the
crucifixion of Jesus
there was this conversation…
"You are a king,
then!" said Pilate.
Jesus answered,
"You are right in saying I am a king.
In fact, for this
reason I was born,
and for this I came
into the world,
to testify to the
truth.
Everyone on the side
of truth listens to me."
"What is
truth?" Pilate asked.
John 18:37-38
What is truth?
Jesus said I came into the world, to
testify to the truth.
Everyone on the side
of truth listens to me."
Simple faith believes in truth
and finds its source in God.
Simple faith believes God’s gift to us is
truth and our gift to God is honesty.
For we are taking
pains to do what is right,
not only in the eyes
of the Lord but also in the eyes of men.
2 Corinthians 8:21
Do your best to
present yourself to God as one approved,
a workman who does not
need to be ashamed
and who correctly
handles the word of truth.
2 Timothy
2:15-16
The LORD detests lying lips,
but he delights in men
who are truthful.
Proverbs
12:22
"Whoever would
love life and see good days
must keep his tongue
from evil
and his lips from
deceitful speech.
He must turn from evil
and do good;
he must seek peace and
pursue it.
For the eyes of the
Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are
attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the
Lord is against those who do evil."
1 Peter 3:10-12
