More


More



What do you think of when you hear the word “More”
All of us want more
It seems that there is never enough we want “More”
What do you want more of?
With a continual lust for more.
Ephesians 4:19
OR
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine
Ephesians 3:20

What do you think of when you hear the word “More”?

All of us want more.

It seems that there is never enough we want “More”.

What do you want more of?

Most of us want more days.

We want to live a long life.
 
In those days we want more money, more food,
more things to enjoy the more days.

The Book of Ephesians uses the word “More” 2 times…

  One in a good sense and the other in a bad.

In Ephesians 4:19, it says we should no longer
live “with a continual lust for more.

There is a warning to those of us who have
come out of the world’s way of thinking.

Like the Children of Israel,
 who came out of slavery in Egypt.

In Exodus 32, the people had not been out
of Egypt long and had seen great miracles.

Moses when up the mountain to be
with the Lord and the people said… 

When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt,
 we don't know what has happened to him."
 Exodus 32:1

The people wanted more gods.

Aaron had them take the gold the Lord God had told
them to take from the Egyptians and cast it
into a fire and a golden calf came out of the fire.

The very wealth God had given
them, they exchanged for an idol.

Like the Israelites we can quickly
forget all God has given us.

We can spend or exchange the wealth of His
riches to us for a “with a continual lust for more”.

The second “More” in Ephesians says…

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably
more than all we ask or imagine, according
to his power that is at work within us
 Ephesians 3:20

Whatever your “More” is, God says He…

is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine”

How do we get the “immeasurably more”
“according to his power that is at work within us”.

If we really want “More”…

We must seek to have More of God at work in us.

Many of our songs and many of
our prayers are for more of God.

But what does that mean?

Many seek God like a lottery ticket.

We want Him to give us more to
fulfill our “continual lust for more”.

If we truly want more…

We should seek Him with a desire to be worked on.

His immeasurable power is
to work on us, to change us.
  
That change gives us contentment in all circumstances.

That change teaches us to be wise and
avoid trouble and enter into blessing.

 That change in us comes from a love and
desire for the one who “is able to do
 immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine”.

So what do you want “More” of?

 Ephesians 4:17-19 NIV

17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.


Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV

20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
