WHAT HAPPENED???

                                                          According to Colossians 3:6      

God is angry with the way we have made sex impure

“Because of these, the wrath of God is coming” 

  God is mad about the way we act and speak about sex

God tells us we are to get rid of “filthy language from your lips”   

Let us stop using filthy language that dishonors what God has created

We have blasphemed sex and sexuality with filthy words

And dishonored our God who made them

Filthy language is not taken lightly, they are not just idle words

“But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 12:36,37

Let’s clean up our speech because it is a big deal to God

Genesis 2:21-25

Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man….

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

WHAT HAPPENED???

What God created in the Garden of

Eden was pure, beautiful and holy.

What God created was clean and unashamed.

Nudity in the context of God’s creation was pure.

Man’s desire to look at the female body was a 24/7 experience.

Woman’s desire for intimacy was transparent.

Nothing hid from the exploration of the man and the woman.

The exploration of touch and the arousal of sexual pleasure.

What happened?

Why has sex become filthy?

Why has sex become immoral?

 How has it become impurity, a matter of lust?

God created the male and female to experience

sexuality as a pure and beautiful thing.

According to Colossians 3:6, God is angry

with the way we have made it impure…

“Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.”

  God is mad about the way we act and speak about sex.

God tells us we are to get rid of “filthy language from your lips.”

   

“Filthy”, Shameful

We have taken and made a joke of God’s creation…

His creation of life and the ability to procreate life.

When Adam and Eve fell from God’s grace…

  

… the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Genesis 3:7

They entered into another world and God asked,

 "Who told you that you were naked?”

 Genesis 3:11

Listening to Satan took away the purity of the glorious

male and female body God had made.

Adam and Eve were afraid and hid their body parts.

God has provided us a place to enjoy the pleasures of sex.

It is in the context of covenantal marriage.

 In this context, a husband and wife have the freedom to

nakedly pray that God would help them understand his

design for expressing their love in tangible ways without shame.

Let’s keep the marriage bed undefiled.

Let us stop using filthy language

that dishonors what God has created.

We have blasphemed sex and sexuality with filthy

words and dishonored our God who made them.

Filthy language is not taken lightly…

When God looks at our fruit,

He looks at what flows out of our mouth.

Because out of our mouth the heart speaks.

Let’s clean up our speech because it is a big deal to God.

Colossians 3:5-11

5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.   7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

Matthew 12:33-37 NIV

33 "Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36 But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."
