Swearing Profanity

Swearing
Profanity

Language is powerful

What we say and how we say it changes things

Language is also communicated in our actions and expressions

Our God is great and worthy of praise and thanks giving

One of the most important things we should do is honor God

God did more than create us

He has given us everything we need

When we abuse those provisions

When we miss appropriate our time and energy, or love and affections

God makes provision for us to repent and find His mercy and grace

That is why He is worthy of all Honor

Not to Honor Him is to Profane Him!

Profanity is socially offensive language,[1] which may also be called swear words, curse words, cuss words, bad language, strong language, offensive language, crude language, coarse language, foul language, bad words, oaths, blasphemous language, vulgar language, lewd language, choice words, or expletives. The use of such language is called swearing, cursing, or cussing.
In its older, more literal sense, "profanity" refers to a lack of respect for things that are held to be sacred, which implies anything inspiring deserving of reverence, as well as behaviour showing similar disrespect or causing religious offense  Wikipedia

One of the most important things we should do is honor God.

Honor, high respect, esteem, distinction, recognition, privilege, glory, kudos,
cachet, prestige, merit, credit; importance, illustriousness, notability

Honor is given because of credit.

God did more than create us.

He has given us everything we need.

When we abuse those provisions,

When we miss appropriate our time and energy,

Or love and affections,

God makes provision for us to repent
and find His mercy and grace.

That is why He is worthy of all Honor.

Anyone who recognizes who God is,
realizes He is a rewarder of
those who diligently seek Him.

To honor God is a…

privilege, pleasure, pride, joy.

So why would we disgrace the God of grace?

How is it we could take His name so lightly?

To discredit who God is?

The writer of Proverbs 30 says…
"Two things I ask of you, O LORD;
do not refuse me before I die:
Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.
Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
and say, 'Who is the LORD?'
Or I may become poor and steal,
and so dishonor the name of my God.
Proverbs 30:7-9
Sadly, we all fail to give God the honor He deserves…
When we curse the provisions He has created
And given us instead of giving thanks.
We dishonor Him when we speak against His people, the Church or Israel.
We dishonor Him when we say we belong to Him but do not live for Him.
Our world judges thing by popularity.
The more we see something the more we accept it.
The more we use God’s name in vain the more we accept it.
Best antidote for profanity is Praise.
In everything give thanks.
In word and deed express gratitude and honor to God.
What hope do you have or the people around you…
If the Name of the Lord is profaned.
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under
heaven given to men by which we must be saved.
Acts 4:12
No wonder we are strongly warned…
You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God,
for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
Exodus 20:7

Scripture Reading
Exodus 20:7 NIV
You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not
hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

Acts 4:12 NIV
2 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven
given to men by which we must be saved."

Revelation 4:11 NIV
11 "You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being."
