Swearing Stunts Spiritual Progress

Swearing
Stunts Spiritual Progress

So you can follow the crowed with polluted language
     venting your emotional frustration
Or, you can choose wisdom and find spiritual growth to give you the real power
to overcome your emotions and the situations of life
If you choose the latter you will be looked up to
Remember the most important thing for you and others is
Spiritual Progress

Stunts Spiritual Progress

Talk, we all do it.

It is a gift from God.

Think about life without the ability to talk.

Talk is communication;
we do it with words and jesters.

They say “sticks and stones can break
my bones but words will never hurt me”.

This is so far from the truth.

Words have power and all of us
have been hurt and helped by words.

So it is no wonder God has given us a lot
of instructions in His Word about our talk.

One of those places is Ephesians 4:29 AMP

Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God's favor) to those who hear it.  Foul, polluting, evil, unwholesome or worthless come out of your mouth.

So what should come out of our mouth?

What is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others?

There is nothing more important than spiritual progress.

Spiritual progress always develops us
and others to handle life’s situations.

Spiritual progress only comes as favor is extended.

Our talk should always focus on
the spiritual progress of others.

This scripture says…
as is fitting to the need and the occasion”

When you have an occasion, a situation, that is
emotionally troubling you, what do you need?

You don’t need a bunch of swearing of
unwholesome and worthless words.

What you need is wisdom.

Think about the people you would go to for help.

The person who does not control their
emotions uses swearing as a release to their pain.

Or, would you confide in the person
whose speech is seasoned and controlled.

You may not have thought about it but swearing is
more than offensive it causes you to lose credibility.

Swearing may make you think you are
tough, you may put on a façade and
give the illusion of control and strength.

But swearing only releases pressure
from within us, an uncontrolled pressure.

It is not good for our feelings to build
to a place where we cannot handle them.

Those pressures can build slowly but
most of the time that pressure is
like a short fuse to a keg of dynamite.

Swearing keeps us from spiritual progress.

Spiritual progress comes from wisdom.

James 3 tells who is wise and
understanding and who is not.

Who can help us progress spiritually so we
can handle every occasion we face in life.

There is an earthly wisdom and
it is infiltrated with evil practices.

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

So you can follow the crowd with polluted
language venting your emotional frustration.

Or, you can choose wisdom and find spiritual
growth to give you the real power to
overcome your emotions and the situations of life.

If you choose the latter you will be looked up to.

Remember the most important thing for you and others is…

Spiritual Progress

Scripture Reading

Ephesians 4:29 AMP
29 Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God's favor) to those who hear it.

James 3:13-18 NIV
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom . 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such "wisdom " does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
