The Main Thing Gun Control Does Not Change People - But Jesus Does

The Main Thing

Gun Control Does Not Change People - But Jesus Does

There is a man in my church who used to be a thief.
One time when trying to escape from the police
He engaged in a gun fight with those officers
Today this man is not in prison, but in my church
Because Jesus changed his life
He now serves in the church and the community
No laws would have changed this man
If you want to meet this man come to church with me and I will introduce him to you
There are untold billions who have been changed by the
Gospel because someone told them about Jesus
How many of those who have come to know Jesus, if left to live a life without Jesus,
Might have in an act of violence added to the tragedies we have already mourned

Romans 1:16-17

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes:
first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed,
a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

Gun Control Does Not Change People - But Jesus Does

There is a man in my church who used to be a thief.

One time when trying to escape from the police,
he engaged in a gun fight with those officers.

Today this man is not in prison, but in
my church because Jesus changed his life.

He now serves in the church and the community.

No laws would have changed this man.

If you want to meet this man come to church
with me and I will introduce him to you.

This is why I believe we should
keep the main thing the main thing.

I have marched on the picket lines to stop abortion.

I fought against pornography in the courtroom.

The law is for the lawless so the battle to
fight social evils will always be debated.

I have learned through life to
keep the main thing the main thing.

The main thing is Jesus Christ…

Jesus Christ who was crucified, buried and rose again.

It is the proclaiming of that message
that has the power to change lives.

Laws don’t change lives, but Jesus does.

He has changed my life.

I have given my life to this message of the cross of Christ.

I have seen more results from people meeting Jesus then
I did by marching in a picket line or battling in a court room.

Therefore, I not only gave my life as a pastor but
a witness to the power of Jesus to change lives.

Churches all over the world are full
of people who have been changed.

Most of them were changed because of a one-on-one
relationship with someone who shared Jesus with them.

There is no way statistics can measure the
change in families, communities or the world.

Just think, if one of these school shooters came to know Jesus,
we would have never mourned the death of those students and faculty.

So how many of us who have had our lives changed,
had never come to know Christ, how many
more acts of violence would we have mourned.

Those changed by Jesus Christ have
been the silent responders to every crisis.

The founding of The United States of America was
settled by Christians who reached out to others in need.

They built the nation’s hospitals and schools.

Yet sadly, Jesus has been removed
from the hospitals and schools.

Now instead of serving and loving others, as God has
loved us, we are serving economics and personal agendas.

Imagine the world if there were no churches.

Imagine the world if Jesus Christ had never come and been
rejected, crucified, buried then raised from the dead to give us hope.

We have seen many heroes emerge from the tragedies in the land.

Let me tell you there are untold
billions who told someone about Jesus.

How many of those who have come to know Jesus,
if left to live a life without Jesus, might have in an act of
violence added to the tragedies we have already mourned.

Maybe you are one of those heroes who will never know
the lives you saved by sharing Jesus with that one person.

Jesus came to give us eternal life, but He also came that
our lives would be full and abundant through His gift of love.

It is so easy to get caught up in the debates.

So easy to be swayed by the bias media, the
statistics that do not give the whole picture.

To be motivated to hate by the frustration you feel.

Please, don’t go that way!!!

It may sound too simple, but it is the
only real answer, the answer is Jesus.

Share the love of God, Jesus who suffered injustice.

Jesus came to save the world not condemn it.

To change lives, not make laws.

You will not be able to measure how much good I
have done or anyone else who has kept the main
thing the main thing, introducing others to Jesus.

So don’t get distracted, share
Jesus and His love every day.

You may be saving more than one life by
that one that turns their live over to Jesus.

Scripture Reading

Romans 1:16-17 NIV

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel , because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written:
"The righteous will live by faith."

Laws do not change people, but Jesus does.
So keep sharing Jesus, don’t get side tracked.
Jesus is still the Way, the Truth and the Life.  wms

Nothing changes a life like Jesus.
Introduce Him to someone today.  wms

The love of Jesus is contagious.
Go to church and get infected.
Then spread His love to everyone.   wms
