The Main Thing
Is Always With Us
The life expectancy
of a dog is 10 to 12 years
Much shorter than
man’s
And shorter yet if
hit by a car
Everything in this
life is temporary
The moments of joy at
some point turn into sorrow
But the main thing is
eternal
God never leaves us
in the times of joy or sorrow
Because Jesus Christ
is
The same Yesterday,
Today, and Tomorrow
Is Always With Us
My kids have gone to the dogs.
Each of them has gotten a pet dog.
Marty and Crystal got a dog named Charlie.
Charlie is very special to their
children and now a part of the family.
When I come over Charlie acts
as if he is going to kill me.
His fur stands on end and
his bark is uncontrollable.
Maybe that is why Charlie and
I have learned to get along.
I was determined I would
not back down to a dog.
And Charlie was not
going to back down to me.
Charlie still raises his fur and barks uncontrollably
when I come over to their house, but he loves
to see me because I will not back down to him.
Charlie has been getting more
adventurous and getting out of the yard.
On his second birthday, He decided to
celebrate by bolting out the door as
the family was getting ready to leave.
Charlie bolted across the
street and was hit by a truck.
Crystal, AmberRain, and Emmett
looked on as Charlie’s body laid
on the side of the road lifeless.
The love between Charlie
and the family was deep.
Everybody knows things
in this life are temporary.
But when the season of life is
over we are never prepared for it.
The driver of the truck helped Crystal get
Charlie into the van and to the veterinarian hospital.
Within no time all our family,
children and grandchildren were there.
The tears were flowing as we awaited the news.
The news came and Charlie was going to make it.
The Bible tells us…
“In everything give thanks for this is
the will of God
concerning you.”
“Sorrow comes in the
night but joy in the morning”
Life has moments of joy and sorrow.
Everything this side
of heaven is temporary.
What gives us joy today
will give us sorrow tomorrow.
The more time of joy the
greater the time of sorrow.
In all of this we do not know
how long or short the time will be.
As I watched my family love Charlie and
I watched them grieve and saw the grief
turn back to joy…
I realized how
temporary things on earth are.
I also realized that in all those
moments God did not change.
God was there.
He is not temporary He never left us or forsake us.
How important it is for us to keep
the main thing the main thing.
Because the main thing is not temporary.
The main thing is eternal.
Scripture Reading
Hebrews
13:5-8 NIV
God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."
6 So we say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"
7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you.
Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
