Power
Christ the Power of God
It is the Power of
Christ that will work through you
His Power is greater
than your weakness or your biggest excuse
Yes, God so loves the world
But God never
intended you to remain like the world
The cross is the
transformer
The Power that comes
from the cross
Lights up a person’s
life and reveals the wisdom
and Power of God to
all who believe
Christ the Power of
God
“Christ is the Power
of God and the Wisdom of God”
Like an electrical plug in the wall you cannot
see the power unless you plug something into it.
Christ is the Power of God.
To know that Power
you need to get plugged into Him.
We could talk about all the powerful things in nature.
We could talk about all the powerful
accomplishments of mankind.
We could talk about all the powers
of influence to change social behavior.
But until you get plugged into Christ
you will never understand Power.
God takes things that are not and
makes them into things that are.
Christ takes the foolishness
and turns it into wisdom.
People come in all sizes, male and female,
different colors and backgrounds.
But we all come from Adam and Eve.
We all bleed the same.
People like you and I have
plugged into the Power of God.
People who have had great weaknesses
and had displayed His Power through them…
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a dreamer
Jacob was a liar
Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Samson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
Peter denied Christ
The disciples fell asleep praying
The Samaritan woman had seven husbands
Zacchaeus was too small
Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer
Lazarus was dead
Look what God did with His Power in others.
So what can God do with you?
What matters is plugging into Jesus Christ.
It is His Power that will work through you.
His Power is greater than your
weakness or your biggest excuse.
Yes, God so loves the
world.
But God never intended
you to remain like the world.
The cross is the transformer.
The Power that comes from the cross…
Lights up a person’s life and reveals the
wisdom and Power of God to all who believe.
Scripture Reading
1 Corinthians 1:20-31 NIV
20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the
philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him,
God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who
believe. 22 Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we
preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks,
Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is
wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's
strength.
26 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called.
Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not
many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to
shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28
He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things — and the
things that are not — to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may
boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has
become for us wisdom from God — that is, our righteousness, holiness and
redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is
written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
