Power Rescued

Power

Rescued

Strengthened with all power according to His glorious might

We are certainly powerless to rescue ourselves from sin and hell

But the power that can rescue us also

…strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may
have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father.

Read and pray Colossians 1:9-14

Rescued

Trapped, in distress, unable to help yourself

Lost, abandoned

These are not words we like to hear.

If you have ever had to be
Rescued, you will never forget it.

When you realize you are
powerless to help yourself…

When you realize you
have used all your strength…

Whether young or old…

You know what it is to feel powerless.

Paul reminds the believers in Colossians 1:13…

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of the Son.

Paul says he never stops praying
for them to be strengthened.

Several things stand out as things
we need in order to be strong…

The knowledge of His will,
Spiritual wisdom
and understanding

These are more than great sounding
words, they have a purpose…

…to live a life worthy of the Lord.

Pleasing Him in every way, bearing fruit in
every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.

This is the path to strength and power.

These things will help us to be…

…strengthened with all power according to
his glorious might so that you may
have great endurance and patience,
and joyfully giving thanks to the Father.

It is interesting that this prayer is more about
what the believer is to do than what God is to do.

You and I have to know God’s will and
seek spiritual wisdom and understanding.

We have to live it out,
pleasing God in every way.

We are not only to grow in the knowledge
of His will, but our knowledge of God.

The result of recognizing we had to be rescued, we
were destined to destruction without Christ’s saving power.

The result is “great endurance”, “patience”
and “joyful thanksgiving to the Father”.

Just as Paul never stopped
praying for the believers’ strength…

We must never stop seeking God’s will and
searching for spiritual wisdom and understanding.

We must realize the focus of our strength is not
for our pleasure but to please God in every way.

If you want “Great Endurance and Patience”
than answer this pray as you would
want God to answer this prayer.

Remember the A-men to the prayer is…

“Joyfully giving thanks to the Father”

Scripture Reading

Colossians 1:9-14 NIV

9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
