Power
Anointed Power
Anointing was done
with oil
To set apart someone
or thing for a special service
The anointing oil on
Jesus is running down
Off his head unto you
and I as His Body
The same Holy Spirit
is anointing us with power to
Do good and heal the
oppressed of the devil
Don’t let that
anointing power go to waste
Ask the Holy Spirit
to teach you how to release the power today!
Anointed Power
How do you define Anointing?
We hear this word from time
to time, but what does it mean?
Acts 10:38 says…
God anointed Jesus of
Nazareth
with the Holy Spirit
and power
Peter was speaking and says to
Cornelius and his household…
“You know what has
happened throughout
Judea,…how God
anointed Jesus”
They knew the “What” and “How” of Jesus’ anointing.
The believers of the Old Testament
were looking for the “Messiah”.
The word “Messiah” in Hebrew
means “The anointed
one”.
In the New Testament we
see He is called Jesus “Christ”.
The word “Christ” in Greek
means “The Anointed One”.
When the angels appeared to the shepherds
at the time of Jesus’ birth they said…
Today in the town of
David a Savior has been born to you;
he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to
you:
You will find a baby
wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
Luke 2:10-12
“He is Christ the
Lord”
Jesus stood up in the synagogue
and read a portion of Isaiah 61…
The Spirit of the Lord
is on me,
because he has
anointed me
to preach good news to
the poor.
He has sent me to
proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight
for the blind,
to release the
oppressed,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's
favor."
Luke 4:18-19
The anointing is because the
Spirit of the Lord is upon Him.
We also get a glimpse of
the purpose of the anointing.
Isaiah also describes the
Spirit of the Lord in Isaiah 11:2…
The Spirit of the LORD
will rest on him —
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of power,
the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD —
To anoint was to smear oil, the anointing marked
out something or someone for a purpose.
It was to set that thing or person
apart for a special service.
The “Anointing” on Jesus had no limitations.
For it has pleased
[the Father] that all the divine fullness (the sum total of the divine
perfection, powers, and attributes) should dwell in Him permanently.
Colossians
1:19 AMP
You have loved
righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you
above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy."
Hebrews 1:9
So, “God anointed
Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power”
Jesus sent this same anointing to the believers as
a promise from the Father after His ascension.
In Acts 1 and 2 we see the Holy Spirit
coming upon the believers so they could
have the power to preach the “Good News”.
We receive this anointing when we
are included in Christ, it is at that point we
are “Sealed with the promised Holy Spirit”.
And you also were
included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the
promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until
the redemption of those who are God's possession — to the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 1:13-14
Now it is God who
makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal
of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit,
guaranteeing what is to come.
2 Corinthians
1:21-22
This Anointing teaches us…
But you have an
anointing from the Holy One,
and all of you know the truth.
1 John 2:20
As for you, the
anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to
teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that
anointing is real, not counterfeit — just as it has taught you, remain in him.
1 John 2:27
…taught by the Spirit,
expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.
1Corinthians
2:13
Although only Jesus received the anointing
in “full measure”, you and I as the church
and He is the Head, find the anointing
oil running off the Head unto us.
The power of the Holy Spirit and the very
purpose of the anointing is upon us and in us.
Jesus’ power came from the Holy Spirit.
Your power and mine comes from the Holy Spirit.
Take a look at the scriptures describing
the Holy Spirit mentioned above.
These are the things the Spirit wants to do in
your life so you might be anointed with power.
Scripture Reading
Acts 10:34-38 NIV
34 Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true
it is that God does not show favoritism 35 but accepts men from every nation
who fear him and do what is right. 36 You know the message God sent to the
people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is
Lord of all. 37 You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in
Galilee after the baptism that John preached— 38 how God anointed Jesus of
Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and
healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
