Power Comforting Power

Power

Comforting Power

Young and old get tired and weary
Young and old complain in their frustration
But the Lord says
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
So how do you restore the power back into your life???
Those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
One word directed to one place
“HOPE” in the “LORD”
That is comforting

Comforting Power

Isaiah 40 is a favorite passage of many Christians.

It is prophetic foretelling of John the Baptist.

And God’s forgiveness as the price of sin is paid for.

It reminds us of who the Creator is and the
inability of anyone to compare to Him.

The first two words sum
up the purpose of Isaiah 40…

Comfort, Comfort

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.
Isaiah 40:1

Every phrase of Isaiah 40 is full of comfort.

These words are a command from God Himself.

“Comfort my people, says your God.”

When you get to the end of the chapter you see God
reaching out to those who feel weak and powerless.

One of the biggest signs
of weakness is “complaining”.

Complaining is something you
do when you feel hopeless.

When you feel you can’t do anything
about it, so you talk about how bad it is.

Complaining is when you focus on the problem
because you think you cannot make a difference.

I find myself complaining all the time.

I complain about the weather.
(I hate the cold and miserable conditions winter brings.)

I complain about crime, the injustice in the
world, our nation and even our neighborhoods.

I complain about how I feel and the pain
and lack of energy to enjoy what I do.

I complain about my inability to do things right the
first time, the mistakes that cost me time and money.

I complain about my inability to “fix stupid”
because everyone knows you can’t fix stupid.

I complain about my “smart phone”
because it does so many dumb things.

Why do I complain, because I feel weak
and powerless to change these things.

When I see all God created and how wonderful the
Garden of Eden must have been and heaven will be.

I complain about how the effects of sin
that robs us of every day of peace and joy.

I even complain that God is
playing hide and seek with me.

Now you know why I need Isaiah 40.

I need comfort to the second power.

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.

I know you have never complained like me and
you feel strong enough to move mountains.

But if you every do get the urge
to complain, check out Isaiah 40.

The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary.

God did not die, He is still
alive and will do so for eternity.

Although He rested after
creating the heavens and the earth…

He did not get weary and
tired when we messed it all up.

He created a New Heaven and New Earth
and through the Cross made a way for us
to be recreated so we can live there forever.

Young and old get tired and weary.

Young and old complain in their frustration.

But the Lord says…

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

So how do you restore the
power back into your life?

Those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

One word directed to one place

“HOPE” in the “LORD”

That is comforting.

Scripture Reading

Isaiah 40:27-31 NIV

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
and complain, O Israel,
"My way is hidden from the LORD;
my cause is disregarded by my God"?
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
