Power
Clothed in Power
The Father promises
to dress you
But you must wait
Don’t run out of the
house in the morning half dressed
The Father promises
to clothe you with the Holy Spirit and Power
Let Him clothe you
with compassion and confidence
Don’t forget to take
a second look at your schedule
Because He has set
you up for some divine appointments
You will want to be
properly dressed for them
Clothed in Power
From the time we are little children and
throughout our adult life clothes empower us.
Like Clark Kent the big “S”
T-shirt transforms the mind.
I love to watch the grandchildren when they
open the hope chest Nana has filled with costumes.
Little Kenzi and Amber Rain become adults in seconds
as they slip on a long formal dress or high heels.
Four year old Emmett
becomes a super
hero as he puts on a Ninja Turtle costume.
Yesterday I wore jeans and an old shirt to work
on a house, that evening I changed my clothes
to go visit our neighbor at the funeral home.
Whether it is the logo on the hat or shoes…
The bling, bling on the jewelry
or sewn into the material…
What we wear affects us.
You have heard the saying “dress the part”.
Or, “dress for success”.
Your clothes speak to you and to others.
What you put on says something about what you think.
Some of us have days we
don’t want to get dressed.
We don’t want the responsibility or the pressure.
We get up in the morning and put on whatever we
threw on the floor last night, before we went to bed.
Unfortunately, that is too
often the way we dress spiritually.
We don’t take the time to dress for
what the Lord has for us that day.
Many of my dress clothes have become
work clothes because I did not plan
on working on a greasy project.
We are to put on Christ every day.
Jesus told the disciples to
wait, wait to be clothed.
Don’t be the person who rushes
out the door each morning.
Get spiritually clothed.
I hear people say to me all the time, you are alive
because God must have something for you to do.
That is right…Something every day.
You want to see the power of God today
than take time to get dressed for it.
Check your schedule each morning and you will
find God has put some divine appointments in it.
Never be underdressed, you may need to
give your spiritual coat to someone in need.
Dress the way you
want to be addressed.
Being clothed with the Spirit
is not flashy and arrogant.
Although your spiritual clothing empowers you, when
the Holy Spirit clothes you, the fabric is that of a servant.
We all need help getting
dressed in the morning.
Let the Holy Spirit dress you
with compassion and confidence.
So put on that T-shirt with
the big “S” that says Spirit.
Remember the Father promises
to dress you if you wait.
Scripture Reading
Luke 24:49 NIV
49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised;
but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power
from on high."
