It’s More Than a Garment
Disney Vacation 2008 Kylii, Lexi & Tori with Cinderella
Disney says,
“Come to the Magic Kingdom where your dreams
come true”
As wonderful as Disney is, it can never fulfill those
words.
But there is a Kingdom that can fulfill your dreams.
There is a garment you can put on today that will take
you there.
It’s like the ruby slippers that take you high above
your troubles.
Check it out in today’s devotional….
Nana (Sandy) has a cedar
chest full of dress up clothes.
As the three little grand daughters open the chest,
it is like magic fills the room.
As they try on each garment,
they become princesses and beautiful ladies,
with the story line,
“And they lived happily ever after”
Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a garment that we could put on
when we are feeling down and depressed?
A garment
that makes you feel good
and helps you change the story line of your life.
Well there is!
It is found in the cedar chest called the Bible;
it’s around the middle of the chest in a book called
Isaiah 61.
God has given us a garment
we can put on any time and any place.
It is called the “Garment
of Praise”
and it is for the spirit of heaviness.
That’s right - this garment takes care of depression.
It is sometimes hard to put on when you are feeling
down
so you may need some help.
Turn on a worship CD or type in “Worship”
on a You Tube search and sing along.
It will get you started
and it might be appropriate to turn the volume all the
way up.
After you have gotten all dressed up - have a party!
It’s ok because God loves you and He has everything in
control!
Scripture Reading
Enter His Gates with Thanks Giving
Psalms 100:4-5 NKJV
4 Enter into His
gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts
with praise.
Be thankful to Him,
and bless His name.
5 For the LORD is
good;
His mercy is
everlasting,
And His truth endures
to all generations.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
NIV
16 Be joyful always;
17 pray continually;
18 give thanks in all
circumstances,
for this is God's
will for you in Christ Jesus.
The Garment Room
Isaiah 61:1-3 NIV
The Spirit of the
Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has
anointed me
to preach good news
to the poor.
He has sent me to
bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom
for the captives
and release from
darkness for the prisoners,
2 to proclaim the
year of the LORD's favor
and the day of
vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who
mourn,
3 and provide for
those who grieve in Zion —
to bestow on them a
crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called
oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the
LORD
for the display of His
splendor.
Count your troubles as Joy
James 1:2-8 NKJV
My brothers and
sisters,
count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith
produces patience.
4 But let patience
have its perfect work,
that you may be
perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
5 If any of you lacks
wisdom, let him ask of God,
who gives to all
liberally and without reproach,
and it will be given
to him.
6 But let him ask in
faith, with no doubting,
for he who doubts is
like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For let not that
man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
8 he is a
double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
