Doubt - The Cause of Little Faith

Doubt - The Cause of Little Faith

The 3rd man in history to ever walk on water!

The 1st one was Jesus Christ...

The 2nd one was Peter (the apostle)...

Then there was this guy .......Jose!

Faith is like walking on water.

It’s impossible.

You can walk on ice and float a boat,
but you can’t walk on water.

Jesus’ disciples had a night when the wind was blowing so hard
they could hardly make any headway as they rowed their boat.

Jesus did the impossible;
He not only walked on water
but he did it faster than the disciples could row.

Peter said an amazing thing,
“If that is you (Jesus) bid me to come to you.”

Jesus replied by saying,
“Come”

“Faith comes by hearing …the Word of God.”

Peter got the go ahead from Jesus
before he got out of the boat.

Remember this if you want to walk on water,
or step out in faith on anything.

There is no doubt that God
will ask you to walk out the impossible.

And when He says, “Come”
you have to get out of the boat.

There is a very good chance
that the wind will be blowing.

Amazingly, Peter got out of the boat.

I am sure the other disciples were about to have a fit.

To get out of the boat, you may have to
overcome thoughts and feelings of others.

The second thing he had to overcome was
the circumstances around him.

Peter is successful at both of these
and he does the impossible.

Peter walked on water.

Peter was focused.

But it was when he lost his focus,
he became subject to his surroundings.

At this point,
Jesus asked a very valuable question….

“Why did you doubt?”

You can almost hear in Jesus’ question,
You started so well, how comes you did not finish?

You can do it…

Just keep your focus!

Scripture Reading

Matthew 14:22-33 NIV

22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat
and go on ahead of him to the other side,
while he dismissed the crowd.
23 After he had dismissed them,
he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.
When evening came, he was there alone,
24 but the boat was already a considerable distance from land,
buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

25 During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them,
walking on the lake.
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified.
"It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear.

27 But Jesus immediately said to them:
"Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."

28 "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied,
"tell me to come to you on the water."

29 "Come," he said.

Then Peter got down out of the boat,
walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind,
he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out,
"Lord, save me!"

31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.
"You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

32 And when they climbed into the boat,
the wind died down.
33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying,
"Truly you are the Son of God."
