Compassion of Christ

Compassion of Christ

Compassion is generally needed when it is not convenient.

Yet, Jesus allowed His compassion to move Him.

His compassion for you will move Him from heaven to earth.

He loves you and cares about your need.

Jesus’ schedule after leaving Capernaum,
where He healed the Centurion’s servant,
was to go to Nain.

What was not on His schedule
was a funeral.

As Jesus entered the city of Nain,
a funeral procession was leaving the city
to bury a young man.

It was not the dead boy that caught Jesus’ attention.

It was the Mother, a widow,
and this was her only son.
Luke 7:12 & 13

When the Lord saw her,
His heart went out to her
 and He said, "Don't cry."
Luke 7:13 NIV

Jesus came because He has compassion on the living.

When He saw the crowds,
He had compassion on them.
Matthew 9:36

When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd,
He had compassion on them and healed their sick.
Matthew 14:14

"I have compassion for these people.”
Matthew 15:32

Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes.
Immediately they received their sight and followed Him.
Matthew 20:34

Filled with compassion,
Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man.

"I am willing," He said. "Be clean!"
Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.
Mark 1:41-42

Gospel is more than Good News for those who are dying.

Jesus came to give Good News to the living!

Jesus raised the mother’s boy from the dead
because He had compassion on this widow.

Jesus cares about your life right now….
…your job, your health, your family,
your life today!

 Good News is,
Jesus is compassionate
and
He is the same yesterday today and forever!

In John 10:10,
Jesus says,
“I came that you might have life
and have it to the full.”

Yes, God is on a schedule
but His heart goes out to those in need.

Jesus is always willing
to make an unscheduled stop
for you
to meet your need.

Scripture Reading

Luke 7:11-17 NIV

11 Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain,
and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him.
12 As he approached the town gate,
a dead person was being carried out
— the only son of his mother,
and she was a widow.
And a large crowd from the town was with her.
13 When the Lord saw her,
his heart went out to her
and he said, "Don't cry."

14 Then he went up and touched the coffin,
and those carrying it stood still.
He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!"
15 The dead man sat up and began to talk,
and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

16 They were all filled with awe and praised God.
"A great prophet has appeared among us," they said.
"God has come to help his people."

17 This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea
and the surrounding country.
