Is There Faith on the Earth?
Has disappointment every kept you from trying?
Has your prayers seemed to go unanswered?
And you felt you did not have enough faith?
Well, don’t give up.
Your faith only has to be like a seed!
No bigger than a mustard seed.
Jesus asked the question
will He find faith on the earth when He
returns?
In Luke 18,
Jesus seems to be addressing the religious people.
The question comes out of a statement,
“you should always pray and never give
up.”
I find myself asking the question
have I given up?
Have we settled for less than
what God has for us?
Is prayer and fasting really valid?
Or, are things just going to happen
because that’s the way it is?
Jesus’ disciples were trying to heal a boy
with epileptic seizures;
but were unsuccessful.
Jesus told them that
it only take faith the size of a mustard
seed
and prayer and fasting
to heal epileptic seizures. Matthew 17:14 NKJV
I wonder if our great world of medicine
has kept us from seeing the healing power
Jesus seemed to freely walk in.
After pastoring for over 30 years,
I have seen my share of disappointments.
Times when I prayed and fasted for the sick
and they did not get better.
I have to confess there have been times
I have become apathetic in my prayers.
Going through the motions
with little expectation.
Jesus used a woman to teach us not to give up.
And God again
has used a woman named Sandy
to teach me to never give up.
The Bible tells us that it was demons that caused
something in that little boys brain to have seizures.
But whether you see the problem
from a spiritual point of view or a physical…
Jesus removed the oppressed and healed the boy.
Will He find faith on the earth?
He will if we keep knocking and don’t give up!
Scripture Reading
Luke 18:1-8 NIV
18:1 Then Jesus told
his disciples a parable to show them
that they should
always pray and not give up.
2 He said: "In a
certain town there was a judge
who neither feared
God nor cared about men.
3 And there was a
widow in that town
who kept coming to
him with the plea,
'Grant me justice
against my adversary.'
4 "For some time
he refused.
But finally he said
to himself,
'Even though I don't
fear God or care about men,
5 yet because this
widow keeps bothering me,
I will see that she gets justice,
so that she won't
eventually wear me out with her coming!'"
6 And the Lord said,
"Listen to what the unjust judge says.
7 And will not God
bring about justice for his chosen ones,
who cry out to him
day and night?
Will he keep putting
them off?
8 I tell you, he will
see that they get justice, and quickly.
However, when the Son of Man comes,
will he find faith on
the earth?"
