The Blessing
By William M. Self, Sr.
“Yet to all who
received him, to those who believed in his name,
He gave the right to
become children of God”
Have you received the blessing and will you pass it on
What is More Important Than the Blessing
Think about it, blessings are so much more than things.
They are what gives us the things…
It is love, approval, a desire to see you succeed.
There seems to be something inside
of us that wants the blessing.
We want the blessing of our parents
even if our parents are unable to give it.
I have seen the hurt of many who lived a life of honor
and success to make their parents proud and in
return all they wanted was the blessing, but did not get it.
The successful life is a blessed life.
Living for the blessing.
Esau was born with the right to the blessing.
He failed to honor that right.
It still did not stop his father, Isaac, from loving him.
Yet in the end, he wept over not getting the blessing.
What could be more important to any
person than getting the blessing from God…
Our Heavenly Father’s blessing.
The way Esau lived his life hindered him for the full
blessings of his father even though he had a right to them.
The scriptures say…
“Yet to all who
received him, to those who believed in his name,
he gave the right to become
children of God—
children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision
or
a husband's will, but born of God.” John 1:12-13 NIV
God gave believers the “right”
privilege,
authority, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength…
“To become the
children of God”.
My children and grandchildren have the right to
everything I have unlike the family next door.
They can come in my house anytime they want.
I will answer their phone call when I am not answering calls.
There are guidelines, but they have the right because they
are my children.
There is nothing more important than the family right.
The right to be loved so much, the Father
wants to make you an heir to all He has…
So that you will be able to carry on the family name and
blessing.
That is the point.
Thank God for the ones who took their right and received the
blessing...
Those who have passed the blessing on to the next generation.
So we might also inherit the blessing…
Will you pass on the blessing.
Scripture Reading
32
"Look, I am about to die," Esau said.
"What good is the birthright to me?"
33 But Jacob
said, "Swear to me first."
So he swore
an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob.
34 Then
Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew.
He ate and
drank, and then got up and left.
So Esau
despised his birthright.
