The Blessing is for Children

The Blessing

By William M. Self, Sr.

God has blessed you to be a blessing

The greatest investment of your blessing

is in the children of tomorrow

“Abraham said to God, If only my
child might live under your blessing!"

The Blessing is for Children

From the first usage of the word bless
or blessing, children are the target.

God blessed Adam and Eve and
said be fruitful and increase.

Abraham and Sarah were blessed to be a blessing and
through them all the people of the earth are to be blessed.

“Abraham said to God,” (When he thought it was
impossible for Sarah to have a child) "If only Ishmael
might live under your blessing!" Genesis 17:18 NIV

It has always been God’s intention
that with the increase of population
God’s blessing would increase.

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob realized
the greatest thing they could pass on
to their children was the blessing.

That their children might
live under God’s blessing.

Jesus called the little children to himself and
laid His hand on them and blessed them.

I don’t think He gave them candy or a coin.

So what is the blessing?

How can we pass on the blessing?

There is a commercial where young people
are claiming they are the dividend.

Investment in a child, think about it…

God wonderfully formed
each one of us in the womb.

All the potential is there in the rough.

As you and I invest in a child, we have the
ability of seeing tremendous dividends.

How much are we investing in the children?

How much do we want to see them
live under the blessing of God.

Before my children and grandchildren
were born, I have prayed daily for
God’s blessing to be on them.

I believe that is very important but
we must also teach and show them
how to live under the blessing of God.

How many children are you investing in?

Is it possible you could increase your investment?

Invest the blessing in children any way you can.

Affirm confidence that God has given them
everything they need for life and godliness.

Scripture Reading

Genesis 12:1-3 NIV
12 The Lord had said to Abram,
"Leave your country, your people and your father's
household and go to the land I will show you.

2 "I will make you into a great nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you."

Genesis 22:15-18 NIV
15 The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time 16 and said, "I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, 18 and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me."

Genesis 1:28 NIV
God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful
and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.

Mark 10:14-16 NIV
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
15 I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the
kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
16 And he took the children in his arms,
put his hands on them and blessed them.
