Faith in Blessing

The Blessing

By William M. Self, Sr.

Some say it takes money to make money

But God’s principle is

It takes a blessing to receive a blessing

What are you living on and working for

Faith in Blessing

Abraham would not take from the King of Sodom.

The King of Sodom lost it all to King Kedorlaomer.

When Abraham defeated Kedorlaomer, he refused
to take anything that was the King of Sodom’s.

Abraham said to the King of Sodom…

“So that you will never be able to say, 'I made Abram rich.'”

Where does your riches come from?

Recently, Sandy and I helped out a woman raising her
grandchildren; when she tried to pay me, I refused
and it made me feel good to be a blessing.

The blessing of giving felt better than
any money I could have received.

I think most of us are like that.

We help out those who seem to have less than we do.

But how big is your God?

How blessed do you see yourself?

Is it true…

God will supply all of your needs
according to His riches in Glory.

If you and I are that blessed, then maybe we should be
blessing presidents of organizations, businesses, nations.

Wow…

What do you think about that?

Is that not what our father Abraham did?

What bank account are you living by…

The one at PNC, 5th 3rd or Bank of America?

Or, do you really believe you have an
endless inheritance account in heaven?

God wants to bless you and I
so we will be a blessing.

The more we give, the more
it will be given back to us.

In fact, God says in good measure pressed down
and shaken together shall men pour into our lap.

God wants you and I to be secure in His blessing.

He wants us not to just hang on to it,
but to use every blessing to be a blessing.

Abraham, after refusing to be refreshed and blessed by the
King of Sodom, met Melchizedek, King of Salem.

Abraham allowed the priest of the Most High God,
Melchizedek, King of Salem, King of righteousness and peace…

 To refresh and bless him.

Abraham showed his appreciation of the blessing
by giving a tenth to Malchizedek…

Abraham “Blessed God”.

If what you do in life is for wealth, you will fail.

If what you do in life is for blessing, you will succeed.

Scripture Reading

Genesis 14:17-24 NIV

17 After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley).

18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, 19 and he blessed Abram, saying,

"Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
Creator of heaven and earth.
20 And blessed be God Most High,
who delivered your enemies into your hand."

Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, "Give me the people and keep the goods for yourself."

22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have raised my hand to the Lord, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, and have taken an oath 23 that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the thong of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say, 'I made Abram rich.' 24 I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share that belongs to the men who went with me — to Aner, Eshcol and Mamre. Let them have their share."
