James Wondering From the Truth

James

Wondering From the Truth

Truth, the philosophers throughout time have tried to define it

The volumes written on what is truth are endless

I have taken time to read and listen to the philosophies of truth

And I have to say it gives me a headache

Truth matters

This is why James was concerned for the one who wanders from the truth

“If one of you should wander from the truth…” James 5:19

Truth will always lead us to loving God, loving others and justice (righteousness)

The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. 1 John 2:4-6

Are you on the path of truth or have you wandered?

Only the path of truth leads to life and life eternal

Wondering From the Truth

Truth…

 The philosophers throughout

time have tried to define it.

The volumes written on

what is truth are endless.

I have taken time to read and

listen to the philosophies of truth.

And I have to say it gives me a headache.

One seemingly intelligent young man,

in two hours defends truth in great detail.

He breaks truth down into two

realms “relative” and “absolute”.

This young man says LSD

helped him to realize truth.

Truth is hard to define and find…

But you don’t have to take LSD to find it.

The search for the real and unreal

has drove many insane and even

more to a rejecting of any truth.

I have a respect for those who

want to know the truth.

But I am concerned for those Paul describes as…

Always learning but never

able to acknowledge the truth.

2 Timothy 3:7

Sadly, I know too many who spend their

lives searching for the truth…

 But never find it.

In the end they open the door for

 all kinds of evil desires”

2 Timothy 3:6

Your search for truth will

have to start somewhere.

For me, it started with…

There must be a Creator, God.

Creation to me is real…

And truth, it is not a myth.

As far as who God is…

Only one answer makes sense to me.

The One who died,

was buried in a tomb for 3 days,

rose again from the dead

and His name is Jesus.

Jesus said this about Himself…

"I am the way and the truth and the life.

No one comes to the Father except through me.

 John 14:6

When questioned by Pilate, Jesus said…

"You are right in saying I am a king.

In fact, for this reason I was born,

and for this I came into the world,

to testify to the truth.

Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."

John 18:37

There was a time when I was 20 years old,

I woke up in the morning and questioned,…

“Is the Jesus I was raise up on rely true and God?”

I cannot describe the fear that

filled my heart that morning.

And the concern for how I would find the

truth and how long it would take to study

all religions and philosophies.

That morning I heard a voice in my head that said…

 “Have I ever failed you?

I said no.

Then I heard the voice say…

Than follow me until I fail you?”

Now almost 50 years later,

 Jesus has never failed me.

Truth must be experiential.

There are a lot of theories.

 We all have them.

But God’s Word encourages you to…

Prove all things;

hold fast that which is good.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 KJV

Following Jesus as the way

to truth is not mindless.

 It is always thought provoking.

Studying according to God’s Word

is the way we discover truth…

Study to shew thyself approved unto God,

a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,

rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV

Jesus was very clear when talking

to believers in John 8:31-32…

To the Jews who had believed him,

Jesus said,

"If you hold to my teaching,

you are really my disciples.

Then you will know the truth,

and the truth will set you free."

Truth matters.

This is why James is concerned for

the one who wanders from the truth.

“If one of you should wander from the truth…”

 James 5:19

Truth will always lead us to loving God,

loving others and justice (righteousness).

The man who says, "I know him,"

but does not do what he commands is a liar,

and the truth is not in him.

But if anyone obeys his word,

God's love is truly made complete in him.

This is how we know we are in him:

Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

1 John 2:4-6

Are you on the path of truth?

 Or, have you wandered?

Only the path of truth leads

to life and life eternal.

Scripture Reading

James 5:19-20 NIV

19 My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.
