James
The Healer
When James asked “Is any one of you sick?”
We must remember who the healer is
God is the Healer Exodus 15:26
His desire is to heal us spirit, soul and body 1 Thessalonians 5:24
If you are sick, don’t only seek God for a quick supernatural healing
Allow God to heal and teach you how to live a restored and more healthy life
A life that will serve the Lord, your Healer
The Healer
There is an interesting verse after Moses
led the children of Israel out
of Egypt and across the Red Sea.
Exodus 15:26…
He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you."
The last part of the verse says…
“For I am the LORD, who heals you.”
This verse gives us some conditions for healing…
“If you pay attention to His
commands and keep all His decrees.”
We should not forget God made Adam and Eve.
He also says…
He formed us in our mother’s womb.
Psalms 139:13-16
God made the human body in wonderful ways
and one of those ways is its ability to heal its self.
If you get a cut or a broken bone…
The body heals its self.
The Lord is our Healer and He made
provision in your body when He formed it.
Imagine if Adam and Eve had never disobeyed God.
In the Garden of Eden was the Tree of Life.
Other than the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil…
Everything else in the Garden was perfect to sustain life.
When God says He is our Healer in Exodus 15:26…
He makes a comparison…
“I will not bring on you any of the
diseases I brought on the Egyptians.”
I have read that Egypt, especially ancient, was
a land with stagnating water, a place of diseases.
In contrast, the land God was giving the
Children of Israel was more conducive to health.
We know conditions in our environment
cause cancer and other health conditions.
God laid out dietary and social conditions
for the Children of Israel to live by.
The Priest were not physicians…
But they were to teach the people
good eating and hygiene habits.
They also were to examine cases of sickness
to determine the state of the condition.
The Priest were to determine if the person were
clean or unclean and standards for purification.
Priest were not the healer or the doctor…
God was.
God is our Healer by the way He created us.
God is our Healer by helping us live in
the right environment of proper nutrition,
personal hygiene, and social conditions.
God also created many things in the
earth that aid in the healing process.
Oil has been one of those things
used throughout the ages.
God has given us everything we
have need of for Life and Godliness.
1 Peter 1:3
We should not forget the natural means of
healing God has provided for us, as the Healer,
and our responsibility to live in those conditions.
In the same way…
We need to know God is a supernatural healer.
Isaiah 53:5…
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
Jesus went about…
Preaching the good news of the kingdom,
and healing every disease
and sickness among the people.
Matthew 4:23
When James asked…
“Is any one of you sick?”
We must remember who the healer is.
God is the Healer.
Exodus 15:26
His desire is to heal us spirit, soul and body.
1 Thessalonians 5:24
If you are sick…
Don’t only seek God for a
quick supernatural healing…
Allow God to heal and teach you how
to live a restored and more healthy life.
A life that will serve the Lord, your Healer.
Scripture Reading
James 5:13-16
13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
