Family Trouble

Family
Trouble

We tease about family members being trouble makers
But when a family member’s actions cause trouble, it is no laughing matter
Some trouble can last decades and wear us out
So being prepared to handle trouble in the family is very important
Therefore, we must be committed to love and truth
Without godly love and truth we will fall short
Of resolving the troubles in the family
Never give up
We never know what the Holy Spirit is doing in the heart of the prodigal
It is not God’s will that any, even the biggest trouble makers should perish 1 Peter 3:9

Trouble

Trouble, nobody wants it!

 Trouble brings worry,
stress, anxiety, anger, frustration.

Trouble is turmoil, turbulence, disorder,
commotion, disturbance, agitation,
ferment, unrest, trouble, disruption, upset.

So what do you do when a family
member brings trouble into the family?

There is always an action that brings trouble.

As pointed out earlier, trouble
brings on a lot of emotion.

That emotion has the potential
to reproduce more trouble.

So what do we do when a family is in trouble?

Define the action that caused the problem…

And go to the source.

A lot of problems in the world, and
in the family, would disappear if we talked
to each other instead of about each other.

Communication is key to dealing with all trouble.

But all communication is not successful.

Communication that is trying to get some-
thing off your chest, as in shaming may make
you feel good, but will not remove trouble.

Communication must have a foundation of love.

Love always seeks for resolve.

Love expresses care and concern for others.

Jesus did not come into the world to
condemn the world but to save it.
John 3:17

That is the necessary attitude
when dealing with trouble.

  Assault the issues, the action,
that brought out the trouble.

This means the action has to be defined.

We live in a world where good
is call bad and bad is called good.

We must be careful not to force
others to see things our way.

God’s Word has been successful at
defining the actions that cause us trouble.

His Word should be the common
ground we look to stand on.

Jesus said…

In this world you will have trouble but be
of good cheer I have overcome the world.

Trouble is something God
wants you to overcome…

The trouble in the world and the
trouble that comes into the family.

Some of our actions are subtle like a
look of disgust at your spouse or child.

While others are bold like a
greedy man who takes a bribe.
Proverbs 15:27

We should release.

We should never run or hide from trouble.

I have seen families who had
a son or daughter get in trouble.

Dealing with the trouble seemed to last forever,
but the child turned from the destructive actions
because of loving communication changes the world.

Sadly, some who bring trouble
to the family leave the family…

He who brings trouble on his family will inherit only wind,
and the fool will be servant to the wise.
Proverbs 11:29

Joshua said…

For me and my house we will serve the Lord.

The family with a godly standard founded
in love will know how to balance
grace and truth, love and justice.

Family troubles will come and
some troubles will last decades.

Therefore, we must be
committed to love and truth.

Without godly love and truth…

We will fall short of resolving
the troubles in the family.

Never give up…

We never know what the Holy Spirit
is doing in the heart of the prodigal.

It is not God’s will that any,
 even the biggest trouble makers,
should perish.
 1 Peter 3:9
