The Hiding Place

The Hiding Place

Bad hiding place!

Don’t let the enemy tell you

“You can run but you can’t hide”

There is a hiding place!

I remember Sandy’s word’s
when we left the Doctor’s office,

“I want to run and hide”

I doubt that there is a person living that didn’t
think those words at some time or another.

At those times when we want to run,
there seems to be no place to go
and no place to hide from
the burden upon our soul.

It is in that hour that our mind wants to shut down;
to escape the pain like a fog settling over our mind.

The joys of yesterday seem to be erased from our minds
and hopelessness is the forecast for our future.

It is at that time when you want to hide
than God reminds us that there is a hiding place.

A place to regain strength, courage, and hope.

David describes it as a strong tower.

A place when you can get a view and
see your circumstances like God sees.

It’s called the name of the LORD.

The Apostle Paul describes
the authority and power of that name.

Philippians 2:10-11 NIV

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”

The Bible records that at the speaking of His name,
the lame walked (Acts 3:6)
demons come out of people (Acts 16:18)

In another place,
David hides in the shadow of God’s wing.

When you feel like there is no place to hide,
God invites you to be comforted under His wings.

And to climb the tower of His Name
to get fresh perspective.

So don’t let the enemy tell you,
“You can run but you can’t hide”

These words were birthed as I
heard Sandy praying this morning.

She was thanking God
for being her hiding place.

Scripture Reading

Proverbs 18:10 NIV

The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.

Psalms 91 NIV

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD,
"He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling —
even the LORD, who is my refuge —
10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

Psalms 17:6-8 NIV

6 I call on you, O God, for you will answer me;
give ear to me and hear my prayer.
7 Show the wonder of your great love,
you who save by your right hand
those who take refuge in you from their foes.

8 Keep me as the apple of your eye;
hide me in the shadow of your wings.
