GO!
Remember the game show, “Name that Tune.”
The first note in the
song of our destiny is “GO.”
Everyone of us start
with the same note or word.
It is how we respond
that makes up the song.
Abram got the same note
from God.
Abram trusted that God
would finish the song
with each step of faith
he took.
Hope you enjoy our look into the life of Abram.
“Go to the land I will show you”
God revealed to Abram that
He had a purpose for his life.
Genesis 12:2-3 NIV
2 "I will make you into a great
nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you."
The interesting part is God doesn’t reveal
where Abram’s purpose will be fulfilled.
Abram is only told he must leave.
Genesis 12:1 NIV
"Leave your country,
your people
and your father's household
and go to the land
I will show you.”
This seems to be God’s
“standard mode of operation”
God tells us He
has formed us in our mother’s womb
and we ask ourselves the question, “Why?”
The “Why” question is answered for Abram at age 75.
As much as we would like to know our purpose,
we many times don’t know until
we have discovered the qualities God formed in us.
Many people are afraid of God’s purpose.
But in reality, the person
who has discovered their purpose
and is living it out,
will find that their purpose
brings them joy.
Each one of us is just like Abram.
We have a purpose and a place
where that purpose is to be fulfilled.
The problem is in the instructions!
The instructions are
incomplete and vague,
but very simple:
“GO”
We have to put the directions
for our lives
in the hands of God.
God tells us that
the steps of a good person
are ordered by the Lord.
Each step Abram,
and those with him took,
had to be a step of faith.
The first step for Abram
was to step away from his security;
the familiar.
What steps do you need to take
to reach your God-given destiny?
Scripture Reading
Genesis 11:27-12:3 NIV
27 This is the
account of Terah.
Terah became the
father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.
And Haran
became the father of Lot.
28 While his father
Terah was still alive,
Haran
died in Ur of
the Chaldeans, in the land of his birth.
29 Abram and Nahor
both married.
The name of Abram's
wife was Sarai,
and the name of
Nahor's wife was Milcah;
she was the daughter
of Haran,
the father of both
Milcah and Iscah.
30 Now Sarai was
barren; she had no children.
31 Terah took his son
Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran,
and his
daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram,
and together they set
out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan.
But when they came to Haran, they settled there.
32 Terah lived 205
years, and he died in Haran.
Genesis 12 NIV
12:1 The LORD had
said to Abram,
"Leave your
country,
your people
and your father's
household
and go to the land
I will show you.
2 "I will make
you into a great nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name
great,
and you will be a
blessing.
3 I will bless those
who bless you,
and whoever curses
you I will curse;
and all peoples on
earth
will be blessed through you."
