Life’s Battles

Life’s Battles

There are times in our lives that we find
ourselves identifying with Jesus in the garden
where He had to deal with anxiety attacks.

Each one of us are involved in a war,
a war between God and the Devil.

A war between good and bad; heaven and hell.

This war is real,
and in every war there are battles.

Those of us who have been around a while
know that there are losses
and even some casualties, even on the winning side.

It is this fact that brings us to tears
and waves of anxiety to flood our soul.

Some have taken the scripture that says,
“Satan is like a roaring lion”
and have said “but he has no teeth.”

I have fought enough battles
and seen enough damaged lives
to know Satan does have teeth.

Jesus when He faced the battle of the cross cried out,
“Father if it be possible, take this cup from me”

Jesus, like you and I, did not want to fight the battle.

Jesus cried, He suffered anxiety attacks in the garden,
just like you and I, when we are confronted with a battle.

Jesus had to prepare for the battle.

His victory had more to do
with His inter-strength than His physical.

Jesus’ battle cost Him His life,
that was real we can’t forget it.

Although every battle will not be won,
we can never give up.

Anxiety is real because the battle is real;
but God does not want you to live with anxiety.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
 1 Peter 5:7 NIV

For God has not given us a spirit of fear,
but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

“You will keep in perfect peace him
whose mind is steadfast,
because he trusts in You.”

“Trust in the LORD forever,
for the LORD,
the LORD, is the Rock eternal.”
 Isaiah 26:3-4 NIV

Anxiety is not weakness;
it is the first step in dealing with reality.

Step two is positioning yourself before God.

This is the place where we find courage to fight
for the provisions God has made available for us.

“The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.
 And the peace of God,
 which transcends all understanding,
 will guard your hearts
and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:5-7 NIV
