Jesus is the Same Yesterday, Today and Forever
There are many names to describe God
No one word or name can describe Him
But of all that He is to us, the most amazing thing is He wants to be our friend
Our most honored friend, a friend of respect
Yet, someone we can talk to at any time, in any place or situation
A friend who will never leave us
So whatever our personal situation is in life
He is there to encourage us and give us direction
He is there to inspire us to become greater
So we can feel we are contributing to the friendship
We don’t always treat friendships as we should
We can get caught up with other things and interest
We should give our friendship with God our highest attention
He never leaves us, so make sure you never forget it
Take time to consider your friendship with God
How good of a friend are we to Jesus?
Jesus, the Friend, in the Yesterdays, Today and Forever
Jesus is the Same Yesterday, Today and Forever
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
This verse comes from Hebrews 13:8.
Have you ever looked at the verses before this famous verse?
Hebrews 13:5-6…
God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."
6 So we say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"
Jesus is not only the same yesterday, today and forever…
But He will never leave or forsake us.
That is the description of a true friend.
Then look at the verse sandwiched between these verses, verse 7…
Remember your leaders, who spoke the
word of God to you.
Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
Hebrews 13:7
There are two things about our leaders…
We are to remember the spoken Word of God they gave to us.
And
Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
Consider their way of life and how it worked out.
Leaders of God’s Words must also have a friendship with Jesus.
Their way of life is the way of a trusted friend.
They walk with a faithful Friend.
They trust their Friend in all seasons and situations.
This Friend never leaves them and they do not leave their friend.
Proverbs 18:24…
A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Jesus is that Friend who sticks with us yesterday, today and forever.
And He will…
"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
So we say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"
We have the history of those who were a friend of God.
The Bible is full of people who became friends with God.
They did some amazing things together.
For most they never saw a physical image of their friend.
Like a friend of mine who wrote letters to a woman in another country.
They became friends and after many years met face to face.
And married each other.
Then there were those who meet Jesus…
As He came to this world and became friends only later to find out He was God.
We put a high value on friends.
Friends will share the same interest and help one another out.
My sister-in-law has memorized 50 names of God.
Each day in prayer she takes some of those names to pray.
Her conversations with God is according to each name.
Like Jehovah-Jireh, The Lord Shall Provide…
When she prays, she prays for God’s provision for herself and others.
Like Jesus said to ask God for our daily bread.
Or, Jehovah-Rapha, The Lord Who Heals…
Praying for the healing and health of those afflicted.
God is all these amazing things to us.
But the most amazing thing is He wants to be our friend.
Our most honored friend, a friend of respect.
Yet, someone we can talk to at any time, in any place or situation.
A friend who will never leave us.
So whatever our personal situation is in life…
He is there to encourage us and give us direction.
He is there to inspire us to become greater…
So we can feel we are contributing to the friendship.
We don’t always treat friendships as we should.
We can get caught up with other things and interests.
We should give our friendship with God our highest attention.
He never leaves us, so make sure you never forget it.
Take time to consider your friendship with God.

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever
The Book of Joel is a prophetic book about the future and the Day of the Lord,
but it is also about the past, present and future. Joel tells us there was a Day of the Lord in the Past and a Day of the Lord in the present and future.
Joel shows us the Day of the Lord is filled with God pouring Himself out on His people and at the same time God was pouring out His judgment.
The Day of the Lord is full of promise, promise to families
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
And the encouragement to Dream,
Dream for your children, your old men will dream dreams,
Yes, as the dreadful Day of the Lord comes great redemption comes to families
What dreams do you have for your children and grandchildren?
Remember out of all the things Jesus is to you
He is your friend
Let your children and grandchildren
see you talking and walking with Jesus, your friend
WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS
