Light
Two Lights
Light - Where does it
come from?
You and I might say
from the sun or moon and stars
But Genesis 1 tells us the sun and moon were
created on the Third Day
It was the First Day
God said let there be light
God created light
over the earth before He created the sun
Light came into the
world by the spoken Word of God
Without the sun, moon
or stars
Jesus is the Light of
the First Day of Creation
He has come again so
we who live in darkness on a sunny day
Might have the Light
of Life
Which light are you
living in?
The Light of the
First Day of Creation or the Third Day of Creation?
Two Lights
Light - Where does it come from?
You and I might say from the sun or moon and stars.
But Genesis 1 tells us…
The sun and moon were
created on the Fourth Day.
It was the First Day God said…
Let there be light.
God created light over the
earth before He created the sun.
Light came into the world by the spoken
Word of God without the sun, moon or stars.
In the First Chapter of the Gospel of John we find…
“In the beginning was
the Word”
“The Word was with
God”
“and the Word was
God.”
Verse 2 says…
“He was with God in
the beginning.”
The “He” is Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Credit for creation is given to Jesus in verse 3.
Verse 4 says…
“In him was life, and
that life was the light of men.”
Life and Light are equal.
The light of the sun causes thing to grow.
The Light of Christ gives life so we can grow.
Verse 5 reveals a
problem…
“The light shines in
the darkness,
but the darkness has
not understood it.”
Although God created the sun, moon,
and stars on the Fourth Day,
there was still a
darkness in the world.
John the Baptist came to testify of the Light.
John testified that Jesus came into the world
to reveal the true Light that gives life.
On a sunny day when the temperature is 95 degrees and
there is not a cloud in the sky, there can be total darkness.
Darkness creates an inability to see.
When our night as evening, brings darkness
on the earth or when clouds fill the sky…
We don’t stop believing in the sun because we
know it is still there even though we cannot see it.
Just as we don’t stop believing in the sun
that was created on the Fourth Day…
We must believe in
the Light
created on the First Day of Creation.
The description of darkness
in the world is a real picture.
The Light of First Day of Creation
has come again into the world.
Jesus is the Light of the world.
God’s Word is the Light of the world.
God is Light and in Him is no darkness at all.
This is more than a metaphor…
It is a reality.
We must come to understand and
accept it if we are to have life.
We need the Light of the First Day of Creation.
It comes as we accept
God’s World.
Not being in God’s World is like
living at night all the time.
The abundant life Jesus came to give…
Comes as we receive
the Light of His Word.
It becomes easy to accept darkness,
because it puts us to
sleep.
So a rise and shine for your Light has come
and the glory of the Lord has risen.
When God’s Word shines on you…
You will grow
You will have abundant of life…
For Light equals Life.
Note...
Although
I say in this devotional that the fourth day the sun was created it is
possible the sun was created on the First Day. If the sun was created on
the First Day, the Fourth Day is where God ordered the light in such a
way “to mark seasons and days and years”. If this is the case the Fourth Day was not the creation of the sun, but the order of it with the
stars and other lights in the sky.
Although
the day God created the sun or introduced it to the earth is not fully
clear the message of Jesus coming into the world as the Light of Life is
true. This is the message we must see clearly.
John 1:4...
In Him was Life, and that Life was the Light of men.
Scripture Reading
John 1:1-9 NIV
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was
made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
6 There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John.
7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him
all men might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a
witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming
into the world.
