Jesus’ Words in Red
"I have food to eat that you know nothing
about."
What food was Jesus
talking about?
Food has to be
harvested
Jesus had just
finished giving Living Water to the Samaritan Woman
This fed His spirit
and energized Him
"My food," said Jesus,
"Is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish
His work.
What are we doing to finish
His work?
It is harvest time
Time to feed the
spirit
"I have food to eat that you know nothing about"
The issue of food comes up
a lot in the teachings of Jesus.
At one time Jesus’ mother and brothers think
He is out of His mind and go to take charge of Him
because He is not eating like they thought He should.
Mark 3:20
We are very concerned with food.
Sadly, most of our concerns with food do
not have to do with health, but pleasure.
Food is to give us energy.
It is the fuel the
body needs to be active and that
activity brings strength to the body by building muscle.
Food is necessary to the body but not as
necessary as most of us make it out to be.
Jesus, after speaking to the Samaritan
woman at the well, became energized.
Jesus told His disciples He has just eaten
food that they could not understand.
The food Jesus was talking about is…
Food for the spirit.
Jesus became full and energized when He saw
the Samaritan Woman who had been seeking to
be a true worshiper, drinking of the “Living Water”.
The disciples had just went into town to get food.
Food they did not plant or harvest,
others did the work for them.
Jesus was saying the same thing
but He was talking of spiritual food.
Jesus did not sow the seed that caused the
Samaritan woman to have a hunger for true worship.
Yet, Jesus reaped the harvest not only
of this woman, but a whole village.
You can see Jesus was
energized by
what He saw take place in her life.
Just before the woman came to the well,
Jesus was tired and
His disciples felt
He should rest while they go get food.
The words Jesus shared with the woman were
in Him, but it was
not giving Him energy.
You and I are the same way.
The seed God gives us
that turns into food has to be planted.
Jesus says don’t say
there are yet four months till harvest.
There is a harvest all ready to be harvested.
Your spirit needs this harvest to eat.
It is important we
feed our spirit.
And Jesus says your harvest is ready.
If you have ever shared the things of God
with others and felt your energy level
increase, you know
what Jesus was talking about.
All the Bible readings, all the worship you do,
is to equip you to go
get the harvest.
The harvest has always been where the food is.
This should challenge all of us to go into
the harvest and share the Living Water.
For our spirits are hungry.
"My food," said
Jesus, "is to do the will of
Him who sent me and to finish His
work.
What are we doing to finish His work?
It is harvest time.
Time to spiritually eat.
Scripture Reading
John 4:32-42 NIV
32 But he said to them, "I have
food to eat that you know nothing about."
33 Then his disciples said to each other, "Could
someone have brought him food?"
34 "My food," said Jesus,
"is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Do you
not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes
and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the reaper draws
his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower
and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying 'One sows and another
reaps' is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have
done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor."
39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him
because of the woman's testimony, "He told me everything I ever did."
40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he
stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers.
42 They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just
because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that
this man really is the Savior of the world."
